A: Hello, on average 2-3 50lbs bags of soil should work just fine. As for the type please consult your local plant nursery as there maybe a difference in soil for plants or vegetables.

Not very durable
So I like quite a few things about this raised bed. It's a great height and size and the wheels make it easy to move around as needed, which since I keep the beds on our driveway, is really convenient. BUT... this is the first bed I bought two years ago. It's been used two summers and gone through two winters in upstate NY, and it's starting to fall apart. I don't know if it's fixable, but to even try I'd have to take out all the dirt and all the plants (herbs) that are in there. I got it for $100 on sale so.... I guess you get what you pay for.

Don't buy the shelf option!
This product was easy to assemble with all parts present and holes drilled until I got to the shelf. The cross pieces on the shelf were not drilled to match up with the holes in the slats. To fix this, I would have had to drill 56 holes. I complained and asked for just two properly drilled cross pieces as the slats did have the proper holes for the screws. There was no reponse to Target from the company. My advice is to order the planter but without the shelf. Up to that point everything seemed fine.

Starter garden

Great Purchase Raised Garden Bed
What a great purchase (but I can confidently say from experience any product from bcp is quality and I'm never concerned with my purchase)! My husband had this put together in no time. There was just one minor issue w getting a screw to line up with the predrilled hole. Oh, and the mobility of the cart is the icing on the cake! I'm excited to use it to grow a few herbs and veggies.

Spring Lettuce & Poppies!

Sturdy planter
Purchase 2 of these this spring to grow vegetables in. Easy to put together- my six yr old son helped me and together we got them. Sealed them with natural sealer. I seen a question posted about the need to seal and the answer was that it’s not needed due to being fir wood but I chose to. They are outside in the MN elements and wanted to protect the wood. Placed on deck that is full afternoon sun and the wood has aged some but held up great all year. Filled with potting soil made for container gardening and handles the weight with no problem. Easy to move around with the wheels. The only thing that hasn’t held up was the liner which has become really brittle and breaks off with little effort. Great planter in my opinion. I wasn’t able to get anything to survive that I planted but that is on me not the planter. Next year will try in a different spot in the yard and hope for success.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and craftsmanship of this product. I bought two of them. It takes longer to put together than their dad and it definitely takes a couple of people or will take longer if you don’t have two people. They are extremely sturdy, and the casters are really nice for moving them around.
