Wicked [Movie tie-in #2] - by Gregory Maguire (Paperback)

Not for children. We picked this book up from the children’s book section but it has curse words. Shouldn’t be there.

So cool to be able to read the original story that inspired the musical and movie adaptations!

Terrible. Definitely not for children. Very vulgar. Totally different from the movie and stage musical. Cover picture misleading!

I have always loved wicked but the novel is something special. It teaches you the real story behind elphaba and how her judgment, mistreatment, abandonment and loneliness lead her to become the wicked witch. It features a BTS look into their lives and love story before everything happened and after! I watched the musical first then read the book and I was blown away how deep he makes the characters giving them dimension, emotional drama, college like friendship and most importantly a story about acceptance of differences. Don't expect. a surface bubbly read. He built this novel like real life not a fairytale 💚

This is a book that came first, movie came second. Unsure about the other reviews on how it’s not appropriate. It wasn’t meant for children in the first place and its description does list it for adults. Great read and can’t wait for the second part of the movie.
