Q: Is this considered cereal?

submitted by tgrant - 1 year ago
  • A: Yes, this is considered a baby cereal. Baby cereals like this one are made with grains that have been treated with enzymes to make the cereals more digestible and easier to prepare compared to regular cereals (like your morning oatmeal) which require a cooking step or use of hot water.

Q: When to start allergy food for babies

submitted by Menchie - 2 years ago
  • A: The 2020 USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans and other prominent medical associations (NIH, AAP, AAAAI) recommend starting babies as early as 4 months of age with food allergen introduction. We recommend starting the Stage 1 introduction, and Stage 2 for continued exposure together anytime between 4 - 12 months of age. You should sustain exposure to Stage 2 for at least 2 months. Stage 3 is designed as the next step from Stage 2, and expands allergen exposure from 3 to 9 allergens including tree nuts, sesame, wheat and soy. However, if your baby hasn't started allergen introduction, but is already eating solid foods, feel free to start with Stage 3. Continue on Stage 3 for 3 - 6 months. Feeding foods like peanut, egg, and milk only once or twice is NOT enough. We recommend using Ready. Set. Food!, for at least 6 months, or until your baby is regularly eating the allergens at least 3 times a week. We designed Ready. Set. Food!, to make it safe and easy for parents to not only introduce the allergens, but to sustain exposure as well.

Q: The website says to use Stage 1 for 30 days. But the Stage 1 box that I purchased from Target only has 15 days’ worth of product. Do I now go on to Stage 2 at day 16, or buy another Stage 1 box and start over from the very beginning again for days 16-30?

Easy to use

No funky taste, easy to follow plan for allergen introduction, mixes with milk well. If only all parents knew the importance of early allergen introduction.

Ideal for parents who have food allergies

As a ER nurse and a new mom this was something that I’ve been eyeing for awhile. Since my husband is severely allergic to milk, peanuts and eggs where I am not. I wanted a safe way to introduce these food to our daughter. By luck she tolerated all these with no reactions. We have started her on the first box of the maintenance. The only negative I have noticed with these is you do need to use a bigger nipple size if you are mixing with formula, this wasn’t an issue with me since we already thickened her bottles for reflux. But could be for other parents. Otherwise I found this to be a safe way to slowly build her body up so she could tolerate these foods. I don’t think the full 6 months of this is needed once you child starts eating soft foods. It definitely something for any parent to try out when food allergies are a concern, yes it can be pricey but worth it on my end.

Do not buy - allergens are mixed together!

Please look at all the 1-2 starred reviews before purchasing or you risk wasting a lot of money. You'll realize that this system is majorly flawed. Suppose your child is allergic to milk which is the first allergen introduced. EVERY SINGLE PACKET in the system contains milk as all allergens are mixed together in a single packet. For me, my son showed allergic symptoms on day 7 with eggs, and as mentioned before, every single packet from day 7 onwards contains eggs. This means he is not able to continue with the system and I had just wasted $100 as no refunds are offered. Many infants are allergic to milk, eggs or peanuts, especially those with eczema, so your chances of wasting money are pretty high. Please look elsewhere parents. There are similar products on the market that isolate allergens which are much much better. Do not be fooled by the marketing of this product. When questioned on the logic behind mixing allergens together, the response was simply for convenience. Trust me, you do not want to trade being able to properly introduce allergens for convenience. It is really not worth it. I wouldn't have purchased this product had my brain worked a little better and figured out the flaws in the system.

We're sorry to hear about your son's reaction to egg when using our product. Our Mix-Ins were developed by allergists and pediatricians to match the design of clinical trials. This means starting with a low dose of a food allergen and building it up gradually, and then maintaining that exposure over time, because it is this combination of early introduction AND sustained exposure that has been proven successful in clinical trials. This is the reason we combine multiple allergens in each of our daily packets.

Misleading packaging

Misleading packaging. If you buy the 15 day package, the box on it lirs about what is inside. It says that it comes with two .6g, but you only get one, four 1.2g but you only get two and so on and do forth. However it states that it comes with five 2.3g when you actually get 9.
