Q: Currently in the thinking about it stage. How many months before trying should I start prenatal vitamins?

submitted by Denise - 9 months ago
  • A: You should start prenatal well before you get pregnant, so anytime is good

submitted byEducator - 6 months ago
  • A: Thanks for reaching out, Denise! Research shows that it takes time to reach optimal nutrient levels for conception, and taking a prenatal vitamin at least three months before conception is ideal. Let us know if we can help with anything else!

Q: Can this product help with hair growth for women over 50?

submitted by SJ - 4 days ago

Q: I have seen this product has been tested positive for lead. Has that been resolved?

submitted by Mari - 10 days ago
  • A: Thank you for reaching out! We take the safety and quality of our products extremely seriously. Here is a little background on how we handle testing for and aim to reduce the risk of high levels of heavy metals (as a reminder, no brand intentionally adds heavy metals to its products). Our testing: Managing trace levels of heavy metals, including lead, is complex. As part of our rigorous testing, we conduct third-party testing on every batch of our products through IEH Laboratories, a global leader in product and food testing, who independently tests each batch for heavy metals (including lead) to ensure they fall well below the most stringent regulatory requirement for our industry which is California’s Prop 65 (50 ppb for lead), as well as allergens and microbes. Third-party certification: Our products also undergo third-party testing through the Clean Label Project, which is considered one of the strictest certifications addressing contaminants, including heavy metals like lead. Essential Prenatal has received the Clean Label Project Certification and its Purity Award, which is reserved for products with the lowest levels compared to their peers. Transparency: We aim for a leading level of transparency in the industry. Our visible supply chain allows customers to see for themselves the work we do to partner with ingredient suppliers that work hard to reduce the risk of contaminants to the degree possible, knowing that it’s impossible to reduce heavy metals, including lead, to zero. Education & Advocacy: Ritual knows it’s impossible (even if we wish) for any brand to be lead-free entirely, so we openly educate consumers about heavy metals. We are also one of the only supplement brands openly lobbying Congress, asking them to establish heavy metal limits for supplements and protein powders. Our program’s current detection limit is standard for our lab and the supplement industry at <.01ppm; however, we are actively working to try and lower the detection limit for our testing. We are always striving for continuous improvement and transparency. You can see the testing conducted on Ritual’s products through our Certificate of Traceability.

Q: Is it a bad thing to take out the rubber piece that says “this stays in the bottle, k”?

submitted by JR - 1 month ago
  • A: Great question! That little insert that says “this stays in the bottle, k?” is actually a food-grade silicone tab infused with a small amount of essential oil—it’s there to help support the overall smell and taste experience of the product. You're absolutely welcome to remove it if you prefer. It’s not harmful and won’t affect the quality or efficacy of the product itself. Just a little detail we include to make your daily ritual a bit more enjoyable!

Q: Are these ones easier to take than the mint essence ones? The mint ones made me gag and I could get them down my last pregnancy.

submitted by Mk2023 - 2 months ago
  • A: Hi there! We completely understand that taste and smell sensitivity can be heightened during pregnancy. Some customers have found it helpful to: -Remove the tab from the bottle and leave the cap off for a few hours to let the scent dissipate. -Take the capsules with food or a flavored beverage. We hope this helps!

Q: Do you recommend taking any other vitamins that are necessary for optimal pregnancy health on top of this vitamin? (Things like DHA or B vitamins?) Or, does it include everything you'll need?

submitted by M - 4 months ago
  • A: Great question! Our Essential Prenatal is thoughtfully formulated with 12 key nutrients to support pregnancy, including Folate (as methylated folate), Iron (as ferrous bisglycinate), and Omega-3 DHA from vegan algal oil. These ingredients are included based on what most pregnant women tend to miss through diet alone. That said, every body is different—and depending on your unique needs or health goals, some people choose to supplement further. We always recommend checking in with your healthcare provider to personalize your routine based on your individual needs 💛

submitted by KL - 7 months ago
  • A: Hi! Once opened, Essential Prenatal can be stored safely until the expiration date printed on the bottle, as long as it's kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Proper storage helps maintain the product’s quality and effectiveness. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

I have used these for a couple months already. There is days that I miss taking my dosage, and those days I feel absolutely horrible. These prenatals make me feel amazing during pregnancy, the taste is a little tangy but not bad enough to not take them.

I’ve taken these for years trying to conceive, pregnant with my daughter, and now pregnant again. Never experienced the burps other people mention, they’re easy to swallow, nice citrus flavor, and they don’t upset my stomach.

I wanted to love these, but I could not get over the fishy burps after taking these. It’s really not common with these, but I happened to experience it and it was horrid.
1 reply from Ritual Team team - 2 months ago
Hi! Though many omega-3 oils undergo a deodorization process, it’s tough to eliminate that fishy scent entirely! Our multivitamins are vegan, and our omega-3 source is derived from vegan algal oil, which may lend a briny scent/taste. We'd suggest taking them at night to see if that helps 💛

I like that these vitamins are vegan, come from a good source, and contain essential vitamins for pregnancy. I really wanted to like them but if I take them in the morning I have fishy burps all day. The citrus is supposed to be more pleasant but it tastes terrible to me and makes me nauseous. I do not enjoy taking these and am excited that I am almost finished with the bottle. Will not be buying again!
1 reply from Ritual Team team - 2 months ago
Thanks for your review, Paisley! We’re so sorry to hear about the burp-back. If you're experiencing discomfort from the vegan algal oil, we recommend trying to take your vitamins at bedtime, which can help minimize that experience. While we’re glad you appreciated the vegan sourcing and essential nutrients, we completely understand that the citrus flavor and aftertaste didn’t work for you, and we’re truly sorry it made your experience less enjoyable. If there's anything we can do to support you further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at my@ritual.com. We're here to help however we can.

I am sensitive to ginger and you can taste the pill on your tongue as well as while it goes down your throat. Also, I share the same experience with others where I taste fish oil burps. I am now taking another prenatal vitamin where I do not have to deal with these anymore.
1 reply from Ritual Team team - 2 months ago
Thanks so much for letting us know. We want to clarify that none of our products contain ginger. However, we do include a minty tab insert in each bottle. This is designed to help offset the natural scent and taste of some of the ingredients, especially the Omega-3 DHA from vegan algal oil. While our algal oil goes through a deodorization process, it's difficult to remove that fishy scent entirely, which may be what you're noticing. We’ve found that taking the vitamins at night, or with food, can sometimes help reduce any aftertaste or fishy burps. That said, we understand that taste and smell sensitivities can vary from person to person, and we appreciate you giving Ritual a try.

My review of the fertility supplement

I do love the prenatal, it’s easy to take. I haven’t been successful in having a lasting pregnancy yet so I can’t attest to being organs while taking them yet. I do however have a review of the fertility supplement! I love it I love the flavor and I have found ways to make it easier to consume!! First, using a straw helps reduce the amount of floating CoQ10 leftover. The larger prices tend to sink to the bottom and using a straw sucks them back up without any interruption in flavor. I’ve also found that mixing the powder with any kind of juice(I prefer pomegrante because of the added fertility benefits!) helps mix the powder in more seamlessly.

First pregnancy these worked for me. This time around I can barely swallow the pills. The fish oil burp even after I consume them with food (bc it’s the only way) is just nauseating. I wanted them to work but unfortunately they are a hard pill to swallow. (Maybe the mint would be a better option, the citrus is not. )

Burping fish oil all day long ;.( add that to the morning sickness and i am done. I really wanted to like these but the fish oil burps are soooo RAUNCHY. It tastes like I bit into smelly raw fish. The ingredients are good, especially the Folate, so I will try to keep this down, but sooner or later i am gonna throw these up.

I started these two weeks ago after reading every article and researching all of the ingredients. I can say I am very happy with them. I usually get sick to my stomach with any type of vitamins, but I haven't had any issues with these. I also feel no different, so it's nice to be able to take them and still feel great at the same time.

I really wanted to like these prenatal as they are one of a few that have DHA in them and have decent ingredients but I can’t. I’ve been taking them for months and I dread taking them. They get stuck in my throat, the burps they cause are atrocious and the lemon taste is so strong at times it’s almost sour. I don’t understand how they are rated so highly.
1 reply from Ritual Team team - 6 months ago
Thanks for sharing your honest feedback—we're sorry to hear that your experience with our Essential Prenatal hasn't been what you hoped for. While we designed our delayed-release capsules to be easy on the stomach, we know that everyone’s experience can be different. The lemon essence is there to help with the taste, but we understand it may not be for everyone. If you’re finding the capsules difficult to swallow, some customers have had success taking them with food or a cold beverage. We truly appreciate you giving them a try, and we’re always listening to feedback as we continue to improve. If there's anything we can do to help, please reach out!

Overpriced Designer Prenatla - Lacks Essential Nutrients - Causes Nausea

Please don't waste your money on this!! For this price, you should get a third-party tested product (claims of this on Ritual website, but no evidence of the organization or details). Reviewed the ingredients and Ritual is SEVERELY lacking/missing basic nutrients such as choline and vitamin A that are recommended by ACOG (the organization that provides evidence-based guidelines for OBGYN physicians) https://www.acog.org/womens-health/faqs/nutrition-during-pregnancy I purchased this to take while waiting for the prenatal I typically use (Theralogix) to be shipped. After starting these vitamins I had horrible heartburn, nausea, and belching of an awful fish oil taste for the ENTIRE day. I suspect the substance used for the outer coating interferes with appropriate digestion/absorption. You also have to take TWO of these disgusting pills to meet the daily recommended dose. Tried it multiple days and had the same issues. Returning immediately.

I took the citrus essenced while pregnant with my first and liked it but I loved the mint essenced for my second pregnancy/postpartum. I’ve contacted support a handful of times over the last 5 years with questions and they’ve always been incredibly helpful, polite, and prompt. I love the option to get 3 months at a time to save money and shipping and packaging!
