Q: On the rubbermaid brillance glass food storage containers. Can I set the complete container including the lid in a conventional oven?
A: Thank you for your interest in the Rubbermaid Brilliance Glass Food Storage Set. The glass base is safe for use in ovens up to 450°F. Remove the plastic lid before oven use. Always handle hot glassware with dry potholders. Preheat oven prior to inserting glassware. When cooking food items that may release fats or liquids, add a small amount of liquid to the bottom of the glassware before inserting it into the oven. Allow the glass to cool so that it is comfortable to touch before cleaning or installing the lid. Have a great day!

Q: Can you go directly from freezer or fridge to oven with these containers?
A: Hi Mike W, No you can not go straight from freezer or fridge to oven That will cause thermal shock to happen. You should let glass come to room temperature and make sure food is completely thawed before inserting in oven.

Q: Can the bases be stacked inside one another for storing?
A: The bases should not be nested. You can stack the containers. Placing the lids on the bases and stack two high.

Q: What material/coating is used to make the lids stain and mold-free? Has the glass been tested for lead and other heavy metals?

Q: There are three symbols on bottom of the glass containers. Not sure what the first one is; it seems to be not microwave safe, no triangle with 5? The other two are oven safe and not burner safe.

The plastic lid is microwave safe when used to reheat prepared foods to temperatures comfortable for eating. Follow your microwave manufacturer’s instructions. Do not microwave to food temperatures over 165° F for more than 30 seconds when using the plastic lid. Do not microwave an empty container. Open the latches to allow the container to vent during heating. The glass base is safe for use in ovens up to 450°F. Remove the plastic lid before oven use. This is top rack dishwasher safe. When using in a freezer, allow space for liquids in the food to expand. Have a great day.

Q: I am wondering if it would be possible to stack the glass bases if they are separated with a thin felt pad similar to what is used with fine china -or- a paper towel?
