Safety 1st Onboard Insta-LATCH DLX Infant Car Seat

My son is 12 weeks old and the chest clip has stopped working. The straps just randomly come apart and it won’t stay latched. I reported this to Target and they do not seem concerned. They also will not refund or exchange since I am barely past the 90 days. Please don’t buy this seat I’m so glad I noticed before we were driving.

My favorite thing about this seat has to be how lightweight it is. My previous car seat was so heavy so this was really appreciated! I love the look of the car seat, it looks really nice and comfy for my child. The harness is sooooo easy to adjust and again, straps seem comfier for my child. I was surprised that with this one you do have to be sure the car seat is touching the seat if it's behind the passenger or driver side. I hadn't seen that before. Also, in order to adjust recline you can use a rolled up towel or pool noodle which was new to me. This is actually the reason for why I knocked off a star, it's just a little tedious and you have to be sure to check periodically to make sure it still is properly reclined/installed. I was given this infant car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality! When I pulled it out of the box, I immediately loved the look of it. The quilted texture gives it a high quality look and the plush head and body pillow inserts make it very comfortable. My little guy (3.5 months) has never been a huge fan of getting in his car seat, but he never fussed when being put in this one. It is super light and the large canopy (extendable zipper mesh panel) makes it easy to shade your baby. The only couple of things that could use some adjustment would be the canopy and canopy hoop material. The canopy material is very thin and I'm not sure how much sun it would keep out on sunny, summer days. The plastic canopy hoop is also quite flimsy and clicks very loud when adjusting it up and down. Woke my sleeping baby a couple of times with the noise! Overall, it is a great car seat, especially at this price point!

I like how lightweight this car seat is. We plan to use this car seat while traveling overseas because it is so easy to transport. This car seat is incredibly simple to install. With the red to green indication, I knew I had properly installed the car seat. I have conflicting thoughts regarding the canopy. I like that it is extendable and that I can see my baby through the mesh fabric; however, the canopy is really loud when adjusted. The fabric is soft and easy to remove for washing. I was given this infant car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I was very impressed with the safety features, the weight, and the material. The car seat was super easy to install and has a level line on the car seat. The Insta-Latch connectors were very easy to secure to the car and I absolutely love the indicator turns green when the base is secure. It's comforting to know your car seat is fully secure in the car. This car seat has all the necessary safety features and only weighs 7.5 pounds. The car seat fits children weighing 4-30 pounds, making it very versatile for parents. The head/body insert provides extra support for the itty bitty babies and can be removed. You can easily adjust the harness to ensure the right fit as your baby grows. The material in the car seat isn't so thick that I will have to worry about my baby overheating in the summer months. The canopy also provides sun protection which is a huge bonus when living in Florida. I love that the material is washable! The seat pad is easily removable and replaceable- no more spending hours on putting the car seat back together after a blow out! Lastly, I love the handle and the canopy are not attached to each other- this makes carrying the car seat 1000 times easier!

I was given this infant car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. Overall I think the car seat is decent quality. The positives: it's a good looking car seat. It's easy to adjust for sizing and fit. It fits a wide range of sizes. It releases from the base very easily. It's pretty lightweight. The negatives: the plastic components seem a little cheap. The handle requires two hands to adjust. The canopy is super flimsy and sticks — it's difficult to pull out with one hand. The chest clip is a little more difficult to get to release. Overall I do think this is a great option for a lower cost car seat, or a secondary one. While this won't replace our current car seat, we are using it as the car seat in my husbands car, and it's been a great addition.

This infant carseat is very user friendly. I found it easy to install with the latch system in my car. It's nice and padded which seems comfortable for my 4 month old. The diamond quilted fabric is a nice touch. I appreciate how light it is as the baby is only going to continue to get heavier. The carseat's lightweight is probably my favorite feature. The handle is easy to adjust up and down and the straps are easy to tighten correctly. I like that it has an awning to protect from the sun and the wind when we step outside; it does require a little more force than I anticipated to pull it all the way forward and I can feel the plastic under the fabric bending which worries me about how long it will last, but no issues with that yet. I was given this infant car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. This infant car seat is fairly lightweight and easily adjustable to grow with your baby. The fabric is light and seems like it can be removed easily to be cleaned. The car seat base was easy to install, either with the latch clips or a seat belt, and the car seat can easily be removed and placed back on with a click. The harness system also seems quite secure. My favorite feature of this car seat is that it is relatively lightweight. However, there were two issues with this car seat. One was that the hood was kind of flimsy and difficult to pull close and push open. The other is that the car seat doesn't seem to have the compatibility to be placed on a stroller, especially one from a different brand. There are typically strollers that can use adapters to accommodate a variety of different branded infant car seats. This does not appear to be one of those, so unfortunately, I could not use this with the stroller that I already have. As a car seat, this seems to be a decent and safe one to use, but since it cannot be used with my stroller, its use is more limited for me.

I received this infant car seat from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I really like how lightweight this car seat is!! The install wasn't hard, but like other infant car seats, it just takes a while to ensure everything is safely secured. Once you get past the leveling, it's pretty easy. I like the neutral color as it can be used with both genders. The fabric itself feels like good quality and looks like it would be fairly easy to clean. However, when comparing to my other infant car seat it doesn't feel as padded. This makes me feel as though my baby isn't as comfortable sitting in this car seat. I will say that my favorite feature is the zippered mesh. My other infant car seat doesn't have that. Overall, it feels like a decent infant car seat that gets the job done while not breaking the bank. I still prefer the car seat I bought prior to my baby's arrival better. But of course, that one came with a higher price tag. I would recommend this infant car seat to any parent looking for a good quality/good price item.

This is a great car seat! The base was so easy to install -- it took me less than 90 seconds from the time I opened the door to having it fully secured. The red to green indicator made me feel confident I had done it correctly. Even more than that, I appreciated how simple and clear the installation instructions are. Some seats make it seem so complicated and these were a breeze. The seat itself is lightweight and the materials are nice. Baby didn't fuss at all while I buckled her in and seemed comfortable. My only minor complaint is that the canopy is a little loud and stiff to open, but I'm sure that will improve with time. Thanks to the generosity of the Stellar product testing panel, I was able to try out this car seat at no cost to me. To begin, it was an absolute breeze to pull out of the box and install. Likely less than six minutes total from box to installation. it is ultra light and my petite wife has no issues carrying it. The car seat itself seems very comfortable for my child and I appreciate that we can use it up until 30 pounds. The extendable canopy is my favorite feature however. We are big outdoors people and the fact we can seamlessly transfer my child from sleeping in the car to sunshine, with the zipper of the canopy, is clutch. I also appreciate the solid grip at the head of the handle. It looks nice and is effective for carrying even with sweaty palms. This car seat, though certainly not the poshest, is a nice, safe economy buy. It snaps effortlessly into the easy install base and allows me to travel with my baby confidently. Overall, I would recommend this seat for any family looking to purchase something safe on a budget.

I absolutely love this car seat! I used it for my 6 month old daughter and was very pleased. Since she is older, she doesn't need the newborn inserts that are provided, but they were very plush and soft. I liked the way this car seat cradled her perfectly and she seemed comfortable in it. Also, there is a large canopy attached to the car seat that you can remove if you don't want, but it provides good coverage for your baby from the sun. The mesh panel in the canopy was great for breathability! Overall, I am very pleased with this car seat. My only complaint is it is not as light as some other car seats I've seen, but that wouldn't deter me. The car seat base was extremely easy to install - I used the seatbelt method. It took me all of 2 minutes to install. I LOVE that the base has an indicator on it that lets you know if you have installed it tight enough. What an amazing car seat system! For starters, safety. The Secure Tech installation system is intuitive, quick and easy! I love that the tabs visually turn green to ensure a safe and secure install. The car seat itself is comfortable, with padding and plush strap supports. I love the modern, sleek look of the seat and the comfortable grip on the handle for easy transport. It is also lightweight, which makes carrying my baby around less of an arm workout. One of my favorite features is the sunshade and that it extends for extra coverage to protect my little one as the sun is setting as well as breathable fabric for great airflow. I didn't need it as my baby has outgrown, but for future children I am also excited about the infant insert. Overall, 5/5! My family has really loved using the Safety 1st onBoard insta-latch DLX car seat. This car seat was easy to adjust and fit to our 11 pound baby boy. The infant padding was very comfortable and included both removable head supports and hip support! The fabric was soft and easy to clean spit up from. The grip on the handle is a really nice addition, and it made carrying our boy easier and more comfortable for us. I also loved the extendable mesh canopy! Buckling the seat into the car without the base was also super easy- the belt path is much easier than other car seats we've used. This car seat definitely feels more luxurious at a fraction of the cost of other options. The only downfall was that when latched it was a bit longer compared to our other infant seat, and we had to move the driver seat up a couple more inches. Overall I would definitely recommend this seat to my friends and family, and I appreciate Stellar Product Testing Panel providing me this infant car seat to test and review.

This car seat is great for a good price! I received it from the Stellar Product Review Panel and have been loving using it as our car seat for our second car. It is so lightweight and easy to get in and out of the base, so I can carry our 8 month old in it relatively easily. The cushioning on the seat is nice and the removable head and body pillows are great for littler babies. The harness and buckle are both easy to adjust for different sized babies and the instructions are clear on how it should fit- we got it right for our little one easily! The harness and straps fit well and were easy to tighten enough to pass the pinch test. My only difficulty was when installing the base it was hard to get it level (especially in one of our cars) and we needed to do some research to get the front to not lift up too much. The level line is also just a black line that you have to eyeball with the ground so we used and actual level from our garage to figure it out. Overall we really like the seat!

I was given this infant car seat to try as a part of the stellar product testing panel. My favorite features on this seat are the sun shade and base installation indicator. The base is easy to install and has an indicator window that lets you know when the base is tight enough. It also has a locking mechanism to lock the latch system or seatbelt in place which is a nice safety feature. I work in a NICU and get to try lots of infant seats, but this is the first time I've seen these features. The seat itself is easy to take apart and clean, can be washed in the washer, is well padded, and comes with infant inserts. My 18 month old fits well in this seat with plenty of room to grow. It fits infants up to 30 pounds and 34 inches. The seat is also extremely light weight which is great when you're able to carry an infant up to 30 pounds you don't want the seat adding more weight to lug around. The seat doesn't expire for 8 years so you can use it again for additional children and really get your money's worth on this seat. The sun shade offers great coverage, velcros in place at the top, and has a mesh extender section to increase shade coverage and ventilation during hot days. The only major draw back I found with this seat was that the straps are not on a slide adjuster. You have to manually detach the straps on the back and thread them through the shoulder slots to adjust as your baby grows. Two minor things are the sun shade is hard to adjust with one hand and the straps are a little difficult to tighten compared to other seats I've tried, but these issues would not keep me from recommending this infant car seat.

When I received this car seat as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel, I was honestly blown away by how light it was. I didn't know infant car seats could be this light! It says 7.5 lbs but feels even less than that, maybe because I am used to carrying around a much heavier seat. This would be fantastic for taking on a plane, for example. The light weight of this is definitely its biggest plus. Another huge asset is the ease of installation. The base clicks in in just a matter of seconds, and the installation guides make it so simple to make sure you have it in correctly. It's a total dream to install compared to other, clunkier car seat bases. The cushions seems lux and comfortable, with a nice color scheme and a pretty diamond pattern. However, the sunshade seems very flimsy. The strap clips, too, felt a bit cheap. In general, the biggest downside of this seat is that it doesn't feel very durable or sturdy. I am sure that is what contributes to it being so light, so that is the trade off. Overall, this is a super choice if you want a lightweight infant seat without any hassle, but may not be the best bet for longterm, daily use.

I received the car seat as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel to test out with my 9 month old. It was very easy to set up and adjust. The fabric is really nice. I really liked the feeling of the quilted design. The infant inserts are also very soft and perfect for a little one. My child was really comfortable in it and it was really easy to use and so lightweight! I also love how easy it is to take the fabric off and clean! Highly recommend!

My family and I have been very happy with the onBoard Insta-LATCH DLX Infant Car Seat. As a first time mom, safety and ease of use are my main concerns. So far, this car seat has ticked both of those boxes. The base is easy to install with visual indicators, and the straps are easy to adjust to get a snug fit. The fabric is very padded and my little girl is happy/comfortable every time we put her in the car seat (if you couldn't tell from the big smile on her face!). We have already had to wash the machine washable seat pad after my daughter spit up after a feed, and the fabric has held up incredibly well. Our favorite feature has to be how light weight the car seat is. My husband works full time and I often have to go out on my own, and the weight of the seat makes my life a hundred times easier when I am juggling groceries and a diaper bag!
