Q: Do I need to screw this into a wall stud or is screwing into drywall safe enough?
A: Our Safety 1st Ready to Install Gate instructions advise "Tools Needed: use a phillps head screwdriver for drywall. Wood surfaces may require a drill." So this model could install mount to drywall when using the screws that come with the gate.

Q: The width of my stairs is 38.5 inches. Will this fit? I’ve purchased many makes/ models only for them to be too short or too wide (with extensions)
A: Hello, great question! Our Safety 1st Ready to Install Gate, Fits between 29" and 42". So if your space is less than 42", it should fit with no issue.

Q: What is the height needed from the floor to the bottom of the mounting bar? I’m trying to work with a tall baseboard.
A: Thank you for your question. Our Safety 1st Ready to Install Gate, when installed per instructions, will measure approximately 8.5 inches from the ground to the bottom of the mounting bar.

Q: Can the gate be installed at an angle?

Q: At the top of my stairs one side has a wall and the other side has a wrought-iron railing. Can this gate be attached to the wrought-iron side?

Q: How high are the cutouts in the bottom corners before the bumpers start?

Q: We need to install a gate in a doorway. The door is gone but the stops remain. Removing them neatly is a challenge. Can I use wood spacers under the bracket mounting holes to bring them flush with the surface of the stops?
A: Hello, thank you for your question! This model requires the bumper to be 100% on a flat surface, we do not recommend using wood spacers to install the gate.

Q: Can this be used at an angle across an uneven stairway? If so, how far can the offset be for it to still latch properly?
A: Hello! The gate will need to fit flush against the surface on both sides of the gate.

Q: Can you use this with an installation kit to install to one banister? Or use a clamp?
A: Hello there. We have not tested with installation kits and do not manufacturer any. We do not recommend using after market items with our products as they have not been safety tested.
