Q: I see you take 2 capsules a day, but what is the best way to take them? With food? Without food? AM/PM? With water or juice? Thanks!
A: You didn't read the directions it says the first three days take one and after that start taking two to see if your stomach in the a.m. and you don't have to have food on your stomach. You can take it with whatever you want to drink it with

We suggest taking the capsules on an empty stomach to limit exposure to digestive enzymes and bile salts, but if it’s more comfortable for you to take DS-01® before/after a meal or alongside food, we encourage you to choose the best method for you. Taking the capsules with water or juice is also absolutely fine. There is no best time of day to take them— we recommend whatever fits best into your routine!

Q: Hard to swallow? I have problems with large caps and these look large.
A: I only swallow with food and these are not bad. Pretty standard size.

We wouldn't recommend opening or tampering with the DS-01® Daily Synbiotic capsules in any way, as our ViaCap® is especially designed to ensure the bacteria stay alive through digestion and make it to the colon. That said, you may certainly try experimenting with how you may be able to tolerate the capsules—any method in which you can preserve the 2-in-1 ViaCap® capsule would be perfectly fine. Q: Is it safe to take during pregnancy?
Q: Are these safe for people with shellfish allergies
A: Seed conducts comprehensive allergen testing on all of our products. Our allergen panel includes over 20 of the most common allergens, including all 14 classes of allergens as defined by the European Food and Safety Authority (EFSA). This panel extends well beyond the minimum 8 allergens required to test by the FDA. However, it’s important to note that the FDA has established no clear guidelines for what it means to be “free” of allergens." Therefore, for maximal transparency and integrity, Seed conducts this testing on all of our products and ensures any substance present in our products is at a level below an established reference dose––the Eliciting Dose, or ED-01, which is grounded in clinical evidence and is considered the most precise method for assessing allergenicity. The ED-01 is the eliciting dose required to produce an objective [allergic] response in 1% of the allergic population. All allergens we test for are below the ED-01, so our probiotics are therefore considered to be safe for those with allergies to the tested-for allergens. Q: If children can swallow vitamins, would they be able to take one of these a day instead of the powder packet?
A: Hi there—while DS-01® Daily Synbiotic was specifically formulated with adults (18+) in mind, the probiotic strains are safe and tolerable for children/teens with a steady-state microbiome (3+ years). Therefore, it should generally be fine for children to try DS-01®. Ultimately, however, we always encourage consulting with a pediatrician or health practitioner before starting a child on any health regimen, as they can best advise with the added knowledge of their health history in mind.

Q: Are these pills safe to use while breastfeeding?
A: Great question—kindly note that the use of probiotics and prebiotics are generally considered safe for use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding and do not pose any serious health concerns to the mother or infant. That being said, as with any dietary supplement or new health protocol contemplated during pregnancy or lactation, we recommend speaking with your physician or obstetrician before adding DS-01® to your routine.

Q: Does this have the akermansia strain?
A: Great question. DS-01® Daily Synbiotic does not include the any strains from the Akkermansia species. Our product includes solely probiotic strains from the Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium genera with a long history of research, extensive safety records, and long-term microbiome stability data in a heterogenous population.
