Q: What are the packets that the detergent are in made of (the individual pods)? Does the detergent contain microplastics?
A: Thank you for asking about our Free & Clear Natural Dishwasher Detergent Packs. We stopped using microplastic beads in our products in 2014, one year in advance of the government ban in 2015. We made this decision in response to concerns about the build-up of microplastics in oceans and lakes. Our products now contain alternative exfoliating ingredients such as apricot kernels, cornmeal, ground pumice, silica and walnut shells. To learn about our stance on microplastic beads, please visit: https://www.unilever.com/about/innovation/Our-products-and-ingredients/Your-ingredient-questions-answered/Plastic-scrub-beads.html - we hope this helps!

Q: Why did you stop making the loose box of dishwasher detergent? I thought Seventh Generations cared about the environment...
A: That is a great question. We have the Zero Plastic Fragrance Free Dishwasher Detergent Powder that is in a steel canister. Steel is the easiest recyclable material.
