Q: can I use a standard bulb in this lamp? 150 watts is excessive. How about a 75 watt bulb?

A: Needs a phillips screwdriver (not included). I found it easy to assemble by myself - nothing that needed an extra person to hold something in place, and it was generally clear what pieces went where.

Q: The specifications say 150W max but the lamp itself says 20W max on the metal part where you screw the bulb in. That’s a huge difference, which one is correct?

Bought this in store and it's missing the screw that holds the lightbulb in place, so the lightbulb keeps falling over. I tried contacting Target support but since I can't find my receipt, they were unable to help me. I think this would work perfectly fine if I could get the missing screw, or at least if Target could tell me what kind of screw is missing so I can buy it myself.

Nice in theory. But this is VERY cheap materials. I have two kids & they broke this lamp after less than 6 months. The shade came completely unglued from them bumping into it occasionally. It is also VERY unstable, very easy to knock down. If you plan to put anything on the shelves you have to be very aware of the lack of stability. Overall, you get what you pay for. We will have to spend more to get a nicer lamp now. This lamp lasted less than 6 months in our home.

I was worried about this purchase after reading reviews mentioning the lamp shade just sitting on top, but took a chance. We need to get our guest room ready for Christmas lol. There’s a step in the directions that isn’t really clear, but you put the socket through both the white lamp shade frame and the last piece of the black frame itself, and then attach the screw nut after, and that secures the lamp shade to the lamp. Just like any other lamp. It’s a great lamp for the price! So if you’re reading this, the shade does attach and please ignore the other reviews saying it only sits on top.

Bought 2 of these lamps for $35 each. When I put them together they were visually appealing however, the lamp shade only sits on top. So whenever you look, let alone attempt to turn the lamp on or off via the pull chain, it falls off. And like in my case, creases the plastic lampshade film and pops off the wire frame that holds it together. Still determined I had to buy lamp harps (the metal contraption found in standard lamps that attaches shades to the base) just to keep the shade from falling. But because this lamp isn't designed that way, it now looks award and it was another cost to this $35 product. So sad. Perhaps if I looked aroundmore I would have been better off. .

We bought the lamp today, it was very easy to put together, instructions were clear. It is lightweight but sturdy. Perfect for a little reading light and phone shelf next to my teenage son’s bed. And yes, the rug is from Target, too!

A bit shorter than I expected, but that's my fault for not measuring the height and assuming. Unfortunately, there is no clasp or fastening for the shade so it just sits there and makes moving the lamp a pain. Not sure if that is a packaging error or a design flaw. I would not purchase again for myself, but it would be great for my upcoming college freshman's dorm room (which the room essentials brand was made for)
