Honestly it's kinda nice
As far as Target lamps go, this is a pretty decent value. What's neat about this style is that it allows the entire lamp body to become a light source. The way light diffuses out of this paper shade is both cooler/brighter and softer than any of my other lights at home using the same bulbs. I included one photo of the light switched off during the day to show that the shade can also collect and redistribute strong light coming in from a window. It's subtle but cozy, and makes this thing double as a daytime ornament if you find the right spot. Only negative, which I tried to capture in the night photo, is that the bulbs are too visible through the shade. They look like hot spots and are not blended well into the rest of the diffusion across the paper. Maybe I just need weaker bulbs, or maybe that's where they cut costs, but overall I'm happy with it.

I was worried after reading the reviews about the shade not going all the way down to the base but ordered anyway since it was on sale. Glad to find out it does go all the way down. You have to use the clip at the bottom to pull the shade down. I saw a similar lamp for $200 and wanted to get a less expensive version. This isn't as nice but for $30 I can't complain! The base is actual wood and the frame is sturdy. The shade is the only real difference. If I want to upgrade later, no harm since this was such a good deal. Very happy with purchase!

This didn't come with the paper shade. Now I have to ship it back to get a refund which is annoying and stupid. I would recommend buying from somewhere else unless you like annoying unecessary errands.

This floor lamp is lovely. To the people complaining about the paper shade not going to the bottom: You have to read the instructions, using the bottom knob to adjust the tension and bring down the shade.

Not as pictured. The paper cylinder doesn’t go to the bottom of the the wooden frame. It hits the top of the frame. The cord is only 4 feet not 8.9 feet as specified in the advertisement.

The paper shade does not reach the floor as shown in the photo… I could only get it reach about half a foot above the floor. The base is exposed. The lamp still looks good though.
