Q: Out of the box, the gate will not close or latch. It seems totally warped, not just askew because when I push the gate into the latch it doesn't even catch. Is there anything I can do to fix?

Shipped a broken return
I was sent an obviously opened item that did not work, the gate was so poorly aligned it fell short of the latch by 2 inches and just swung freely, and some of the endcaps were jammed in to their posts so that the extentions could not be used. All of the zip ties used to hold it together had been cut and bag of parts was open and missing items. I'm guessing I was carelessly sent someone else's return, and it is a big hassle to repackage and ship back furniture-sized items.

Expensive but not made to last
We have two of these, and they work well when installed properly, however they are poorly made and tack welded together. Our two year old was shaking the gate and the top rail snapped right off at the weld. The gate was only installed for ~6 months before it snapped. Too expensive to be made with this poor contruction.

Got this to keep my baby off the stairs. The height of this is perfect and the build is pretty sturdy. The best part about this one is that it will close behind you. I took off one star because the door will pop back open if you don't have the gate installed quite tight enough, but if it's too tight, the door is kinda hard to open. But once you find that sweet spot, it works great.

Arrived used, with defective and missing parts
Arrived used (not even fully disassemnled) with defective parts (the screws didn't thread, so there was no tension created) and missing parts (no wall mount hardware). That means it was returned without all of the parts, and because it was defective, taped back up and sold again as new. On top of that, we payed extra to have it delivered because we were needing it that same day and ended up stuck without a gate. Then Target refused to pick up this giant piece of junk, so we have to pay for it's disposal on top of the other hassles. So appalling, I don't want to shop at Target again. If the bolts were the right size, other than hating the grey metal bats, it looked like a solid gate.

Warning : if you looking for tall and need exactly 38 to fit on stairs pillar then pls note the sides are at 36 only middle door curve arch max reaches it 38

Repackaged baby gate
purchased this gate in 8/2022 to use for dogs and future babies, or to give to one of my daughter in laws. Finally took it out of it's box early October 2023. I had noticed when I bought the gate that the box had been repackaged and sealed with clear packing tape, but didn't think that much of it. When I finally opened it, it didn't have all of the pieces and the main portion of the gate was missing. I returned it to Target, knowing that since it had been over a year that I wouldn't be refunded, but Target was kind enough when I asked to throw it away for me since it wouldn't fix in my trash.

Safery hazard
This gate is a safety hazard. The welds on the spindles are easily broken. My 9 month old baby has broken two of the spindles loose. The 2nd one hit her in the face. The stairs this gate is blocking pose less risk than the sharp metal from this gate. It’s going in the trash.

Perfect size
Not many that worked for a 48” opening and was sturdy. Also the door is easy to open and love that it self closed or you can open all the way and it will stay open. Height is perfect as I am using it to keep my two labs from running out the front door.

Great for stairs
Had some type of rust colored dust and/or rusting on it. Box was pretty damaged upon arrival. Other than that, it took less than 10 minutes to install at the bottom of our stairs using the spring loads. So far so good!
