Q: How long should the expiry date be on a newly bought product? I'd read it should be 2 or 3 years out, but I've seen items being sold with only 9 months left until it stops working?

A: Hi there! Yes, you can totally use it on your face. It's non-comedogenic, so it won't clog pores. However, there is fragrance in our original Sunscreen Lotions. If you have sensitive skin, I would recommend a fragrance free option for the face, but it mostly comes down to preference and skin type.

A: Hi there! The intense debate around "Reef Safe" comes in part from the fact it has not been defined by the world's scientific community or the regulators yet. Some American research indicates that 2 active ingredients commonly used in sunscreen named Oxybenzone, and more recently Octinoxate, may be a contributing factor to the bleaching of our ocean reefs. While there are different perspectives on the research and the causes of damage to these delicate ecosystems, there was just no way Sun Bum would take the chance of hurting the very living and breathing thing that creates the waves we surf on every day, not to mention our little fishy friends. This is why none of our sunscreen products throughout the U.S. contain Oxybenzone and we are currently reformulating the few products with Octinoxate in them. Love this sunscreen! It smells good and is great for sensitive skin. I don’t recommend this for the face though, because it is very thick, but for the body it works great. I read some reviews that say that it separates, it does, but you just have to shake it before using and it’s fine.

We tried Sun Bum for the first time this summer and it was a success. Our 7 year old son was breaking out from other sunscreens so we gave this one a shot and he didn't have a rash and his skin was protected from the sun. This is easy to apply and is effective for the entire family.

I really wanted to like this product. I’ve heard it was supposed to be better, more natural. My kids and husband used it several times and it constantly stung their eyes if they were swimming or sweating. We spoke with neighbors and they had similar experience. It might be a defective product. I’m afraid I will have to return if possible.

Used to be my favorite sunscreen and have used it for 5+ years, but both bottles I bought this year are super watery and separated. It’s not a lotion like it’s supposed to be, it’s a liquid. Not purchasing again considering it’s almost $20 now a bottle and a worse quality than it was before.
