If I could give zero stars I would. Do not buy!!! I’ve never used spf chapstick before but was going to Mexico so figured I should to be protected! It caused major blisters!!! I went to the urgent care and they said there is a chemical in this that reacts for many people with the sun!! I’ve been healing blisters for over a week not!!! DO NOT USE

Don't Buy This, It's Garbage!
Tried it on INDOORS just to see how I liked the feel/look of it before using it for a weekend trip. It caused my lips to break out and turn red and prickly almost like they'd already been sunburned even though I wasn't outside at all. Now I have a red, itchy rash around my lips. The fact it had such a bad reaction indoors just makes me grateful I didn't wear it outside... otherwise it could have been much worse. It also tastes and feels horrible. I expected it to be firm and slightly waxy like a chapstick, but it's like coconut oil in it's consistency... it just melts onto your lips and feels super greasy. And the taste is like hairspray mixed with fake coconut. Also, Because it's so melty, there's no way to prevent it from getting into your mouth even if you only apply a small amount. Even after an hour I could still taste the nasty stuff. Don't waste your money. This is going in the trash.

Applies almost like it is melting on my lips, so a firmer texture would be better. The taste is like if I sprayed sunscreen in my mouth; it's horrid. The balm also transfers onto waterbottles easily so I can taste the sunscren on it. The main good point is that there is aloe vera to help keep my lips cool and SPF.

If you can’t handle the scent of a true surf shop, stay home!
I’m reading some of these reviews complaining about the taste and I honestly have to ask- have you ever actually stepped foot inside a surf store? This isn’t some generic cherry-scented drugstore chapstick; it’s the real deal- because this lip balm isn’t just about the banana- it’s got that unmistakable, nostalgic kick of classic surf wax for surf boards. Not crayons. 🙄 One swipe and I’m right back to my childhood in Pacific Beach and Coronado, spending summer days hanging out in the best surf shops and beaches across in San Diego, CA. It’s an absolute little tube of nostalgia. Leave the 'tasting' to the critics- I’ll keep it for the authentic surf scent that makes me feel like I’m about to paddle out to a big wave. Five stars for the trip down memory lane! 🏄🏻♀️

I'm not a fan, but my teen loves it
I wanted to love this. In my opinion, it is very waxy in makes my lips itch. But my teenager loves these lip balms and goes through one probably every month. So I guess it deserves four stars. More like 3.5, but I'll round it to 4.

I love Sun Bum sunscreen, but this missed the mark. It is very liquidy once you apply it and it instantly dries your lips out. My lips were more chapped 5 minutes after applying than they were prior. I also still got a sunburn on my lips.

Disgusting...do not buy please...
This SPF lip balm is awful. It has a horribly bitter taste and such a strange chemical flavor. The second I applied it, my mouth felt disgusting. I literally kept wanting to spit because the bitter taste would not go away. Then there was this random sweet aftertaste that made it even more nauseating. It tastes like straight-up additives and chemicals. I have no idea how anyone can keep this on their lips.

Fave SPF lip balm
I’ve used a lot of SPF lip balms because I burn easily, and this is by far my favorite. It goes on super smoothly and doesn’t feel gross/greasy like other sunscreen lip balms do. Super moisturizing and protects from burns when it’s really sunny out. Also no horrible sunscreen taste that lingers all day. I use this for myself and my little kids even tolerate it too.

Coats your mouth/throat and tastes awful
I wanted to love this because it tastes/smells really nice when its just on your lips and I like the spf. But somehow it ALWAYS gets into my mouth and throat and then it tastes bitter and awful. I have never had this issue with other chapsticks. While it technically works fine otherwise I would keep that in mind before purchasing.
