The 17” Dual Fan Chill Mat™ provides a comfortable and ergonomic work surface to keep you and your laptop cool. The chill mat rests on your lap and disperses heat, using dual fans to provide ventilation which can be obstructed if the laptop is used on a pillow or comforter. Simply plug the USB connector into the laptop to activate cooling. The ergonomic tilt makes typing easy, while the soft neoprene material provides cushioned comfort on your lap. The open design allows fans to run quietly and stimulates constant airflow. This is for my soon to be 18 year old who plans to go off to college next year after graduation her laptop keeps overheating and crashing. I hope with this cooling pad and testing it out for software issues will solve this problem. It looks like an easy to use device like that it powers by just usb no wall plug or battery more convenient.

Broke too quickly
Broke too quickly. Purchased in mid March. By mid April 1 of the fans completely stopped working. So half was cool half was hot. I did do an in store replacement. Hopefully just a fluke but am prepared for this one to do the same. Not cool that it stopped working that quickly. And not used daily either.

Works, not for too long though
Worked well, kept my laptop between 10-15 degrees Celsius cooler. However less than a year into owning it, it's not working as well. The USB cable is poor quality. For the price and it's simplicity this is underwhelming

Works okay. The fan is quiet but I feel like most of the benefit comes from the elevation; the laptop still gets warm, possibly because of where the fans are placed. An improvement for sure, but I don't know if it's worth fifty bucks.

Works Better Upside Down
Good product, but it works better upside down. It's designed so that the fans blow air up at the laptop but my laptop (which is hella hot!) has fans blowing hot air down, so these fans are just blowing air at each other and my legs were still overheating. Turning it over means the chill mat fans are blowing on my legs which cooks them. So for now that's how I'm using it as it's the only way my legs don't overheat with my Lenovo Thinkpad/Hot Plate.

Came Damaged
It would have been a good chill mat if it hadn't been damaged in shipment. There was a big hole and rip in the box and a plastic piece was snapped off the upper right hand side of the chill pad. The mat must be somewhat tough because looking at the box it should have had much more damage on it. It was surprising how little packing was in the box. Otherwise, I believe it is a good strong chill mat.

I purchased this a number of years ago. And the first thing I did was disassemble and flip the fans over so they blow air into the intake. Instead of drawing air away from the intake. It makes no sense to me to have the CPU fan drawing air through the intake while the "Chill Mat" is pulling air away from the intake. The fans were effectively fighting each other. I'm about to remove the original fans, integrate a USB hub and install higher flowing/quieter fans. One of my laptops has (2) USB ports. Which makes things a little inconvenient at times.

My gaming laptop is well equipped with fans already so I was never worried about cooling issues of my hardware. My PC's fans are plenty powerful, and if manually turned up to maximum effort sound like a f18 powering up to take off the carrier deck. So needless to say, my computer stays plenty cool even under heavy gaming. The max I've seen is 85 degrees out of my GPU. But I along with my wife was concerned with the heat's effect on my little swimmers.. A laptop running at 85 degrees Celsius isn't necessarily comfortable sitting on your lap, and definitely not good for the crown jewels. With this chill mat, it's a win-win situation for me. I keep my laptop a few degrees cooler and get to keep my fertility. The added bonus of the comfortable angle is nice too.

Reasonable price. Good size. Comfortable. Cooling fans work well, not too loud. Adequately sturdy so far, but hard to judge in the short term. Laptop slips off surface too often. Raised tabs need to be bigger to keep laptop securely on pad. Other than that, meets my needs and expectations.

Keeps it cool.
Chill mat is a novel way to keep the underside of my laptop from overheating after being in use for a period of time. I had my HP Chrome motherboard replaced recently and a possible cause of damage was heat. The underside of my Chrome got pretty hot after a while. I will let you know in a few years if the chill mat is effective.
