Description

This thermometer determines the temperature of foods quickly and accurately (less that 10 seconds to stable). The Taylor Instant Read Thermometer is protected by a shatterproof plastic lens. The thermometer displays temperature form 0° to 220° F, so it can be used for a variety of foods. The thermometer has a 1” magnified dial and a 5" stainless steel stem. The thermometer can be used for multiple purposes (meat, casseroles, soups, grilling, etc.). Protect the thermometer during storage with the included pocket sleeve. The thermometer is NSF certified.

Helpful hints: Instant read pocket thermometers are not meant to be left in food during cooking. The plastic lens could melt and become damaged with excessive heat.

Q: the face of the thermometer shows 0, 20......145. How would one measure the temp of water for yeast growth? Looking for temps btw. 20 and 145. I don't see them on the dial.

submitted by Linda - 1 year ago
  • A: The thermometer has markings for the other degrees of temperatures; the photo is angled in a manner that is obscuring the rest of the dial face. We will work to add additional images. Thanks!

Q: Can I use this for water temperature?

submitted by Brenda - 3 years ago

Q: How do you use a dial thermometer? Do you insert the thermometer into the pen part?

submitted by Arthur - 4 years ago
  • A: To check the temperature of the food, insert the stem of the thermometer into the food. After stabilizing, the current temperature is shown on the dial. The sleeve is used for storage of the thermometer when not in use. Also, you can thread the stem of the thermometer through the hole on the end of the sleeve to act as a a holder and keep hands away from

So my husband got this cause he didn't want a digital one for silly reasons but this one gets me so mad. You either have to wait forever for it to get a reading or it just doesn't seem to register on small things. For a big Turkey or ham it worked but it hasn't worked on chicken breasts and thin meats.

Straight forward product. Does what it is supposed to do. Accurate reading. Easy to use and clean. I picked this one because I needed a new thermometer but I didn’t want to spend more than $10, after all it’s just a thermometer. I use it to measure the temperature of welted soy wax chips, that I use to make wax melts.

The thermometer works as it’s supposed to. The screen is a tad small, so if your eyesight is terrible I don’t recommend it. My ribeye roast came out perfect because I was monitoring the temp with the thermometer. Money well spent, and it was the cheapest one too.

Not as reactive to meats & fish

This is barely reactive to food. I’ve baked salmon and took it right out of the oven and it says 110. Used an infrared thermometer and it read 140F. It works for running hot water because I got 150F and up. Also read 160F for cooked rice. I feel like it doesn’t work that well with meats and fish. Doesn’t get an accurate reading when the it is clearly cooked and well done. Also, whenever it isn’t in use for weeks it just stays at 80 all the time. Probably best for food with lots of water.

This thermometer simply doesn't work, it doesn't accurately reflect the temperature and also moves at a super slow speed to a temperature. Returning as soon as I can.

Not a good thermometer

Mdwest2NYC - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
The readings aren't consistent or accurate and it takes awhile to get a read at all. Also the face of the thermometer scratched very easily when cleaning it. Spend the money and get a better thermometer.
