Don't buy
I agree with the other reviewer. Crap product! This item is not instant read, took 7-10 seconds - ok, not THAT big of a deal.....BUT first the plastic broke at the hinge. Kept using (I'm in Big Bend and NOWHERE near any type of store, and need this for my milk for my coffee), next the wires came out and apart! Can't use to keep my milk scalding! Will return this broken piece of crap once I get back to a town. OH my coffee - lol

Cheap.
It’s best not to cheap out, I’ve repurchased 3 of these in the past 4 years. They break with minimal use. Just buy the more expensive one, these are not meant to last as they all break from the rotating foldable part or the screen doesn’t read anything.

I like that it reads temps fairly quickly and the compact nature. The mechanism that allows this to be a compact thermometer is a problem. It has cracked and pieces of it have fallen into our food. :( Pick a different one.

Not the best...
Not like my old Taylor thermometer. Used for the first time on Thanksgiving. I would return it except I threw packaging away. It’s a little confusing to use. Just wantes a basic thermometer like my old Taylor one. But I do like that it is compact.

Design flaw
Upon arriving the thermometer would not turn on. I initially thought there was a problem with the battery. We removed the battery cover and noticed that when you hold the battery with your finger it will turn on but with the plate on and screwed in it will not work. There’s too much space between the plastic cover and the battery. When you hold your finger on the battery it has no problem staying on but that’s not ideal for regular usage. Would not recommend due to this mechanical issue.
