Q: Can I use this as an ambient oven temperature thermometer without inserting it into something being cooked?

A: Hi Dario, The stainless probe needs to be inserted into food while in the oven to work properly. The probe can read internal temperatures up to 212°F. There is also a sensor in the ceramic handle end of the probe which takes ambient oven temperatures while the probe is inserted into the food. The ceramic end can reach temperatures up to 572°F. Q: The temperature probe’s length is “5.16 inches”, but not all of it can be inserted into the meal… What’s the “Insertable Length”, of the temperature probe?

A: The overall length of the probe is 5.16" and the metal part of the probe is 3.9". The insertion point is indented for easy reference. Important: To protect the digital components of the thermometer, the probe must be inserted fully to the ridge in the stainless steel. (approximately 3"). For thin foods, insert from the side. USELESS ITEM
The required app for this hardly works. The tabs to change pages on the app is behind the camera on iOS so that feature is basically unavailable to me. The app hardly ever shows the temperature even though that is the entire point of the thermometer. I ended up just having to use my other thermometer.

Please learn from my mistake, don't waste your money on this thermometer.
Extremely disappointed in this product, especially for the price. Tried using it a few times and couldn't get it to work right. After a few attempts, it won't even power on. Complete waste of money. If you're looking for wireless thermometer, i recommend trying a different brand.

Perhaps, user error?
I tried to use this during thanksgiving but the monitor wasn’t charged enough to work. So, charged it up and used it to check that the monster chicken breasts I was baking didn’t give anyone salmonella. But, for whatever reason the monitor wouldn’t read. This could be user error 🤷🏻♀️. Seemed like more work than it’s worth. May be most effective for BBQing when you step away from the grill.

DO NOT BUY!
DOES NOT WORK. Temp probe doesn’t pick up anything and the base unit shuts off after a couple minutes. Makes a horrible beeping noise as well. Got it as a gift and can’t return it because I don’t have the receipt. Waste of money.

Not worth it
Bluetooth connection to app was not working half of the time. External function didn’t work like 90% of the time and the internal temp worked 80% of the time. Not even sure if it’s even accurate. I had to use to quick thermometer to verify. For how much it cost not worth it.

Learning curve
This wireless meat thermometer from Taylor is great when you actually get it to work! There were some initial struggles to get the probe to pair with the app and base via Bluetooth. You can monitor the temperature of meat as it’s cooking via the Bluetooth feature and their mobile app. I did like how I can monitor the temperature of the grill in real time without ever opening the hood. Also like how the temperature probe is wire free making it easier to keep clean. I didn’t like how this thermometer was essentially useless without utilizing the app. The app permissions were a bit too invasive for my liking and I wasn’t able to decline permissions and still use the probe. Overall, a nice wireless thermometer, but definitely has a learning curve to operating it.

So far, so good!
We LOVED having this over the Thanksgiving weekend! The app was easy to download and straightforward. Love the case and how it is so easy to recharge. We found it to be easy to use all around and accurate. My biggest concern is long term use with dependence on the app...there are just so many glitches and things that can go wrong with technology so I'm crossing my fingers it stays easy to use. If you aren't the most tech savvy or don't have the patience to do some troubleshooting if needed, this probably isn't the right fit for you but so far we have been happy!

Shady application, so if you want to monitor from your phone it may not work the way you want.
The probe is a good length and I'm really excited about not having a wire coming out of the smoker while using it. I have other meat thermometers by this brand and am excited to use one without wires. The main selling point is being able to connect it to my phone and not have to keep track of the transmitter, but the app seems really shady. I looked at the reviews and will probably not download it after all. If the app seemed trustworthy I'd rate it higher.

A Convenient and Helpful Little Tool!
Ok this is a pretty amazing invention. I love that you can literally leave this in the meat while cooking, as the thermometer is heat resistant and cap flame resistant over 900° allowing a safe and non interrupted way to check the meat while cooking. With the easy to use app, you can get alerts and even having custom cooking presets, making it so convenient to use every time! The 200-500ft range makes it easier to cook while enjoying the company that is over to visit, so you don’t have to be constantly checking on the oven or grill. Such a helpful tool. I can see this being used for a lot of cookouts and BBQ’s!!

Failed to work as indicated
I purchased this wireless thermometer to use while cooking our Thanksgiving Day turkey. I am disappointed. After fully charging the unit, I install the app on my Samsung S22+ phone and attempt to pair the unit. It claims to be "paired", but fails to display any internal or external temperatures in the app or the base unit. The probe is inserted into the turkey as the included, but lacking, instructions indicate. The base unit seems to show a bluetooth connection, the app seems to show the same, but it does not display any temperature. Within a minute, the base unit powers off and with it any connection to the probe. So I have no idea what my turkey's temperature is. I will be attempting to return this flawed product. If someone wants to show me how this works, I welcome the help. Thank you.
