There's better out there
The measuring is slower, but the most annoying part is that the unit turns itself off before measuring the temp. I love the cover. I like that it tilts, but those are not worth the constant need to turn it back on over and over again. I'm a chef and often cook for six or more. This can't keep up, so I'm tossing it and finding something better.

Badly Designed
I like Kitchenaid as a brand, generally, but this thermometer is terribly designed and not very accurate. As soon as you stick it in a piece of meat, it wobbles around on the hinge. The backlight stays on for about one second and then the button has to be pushed again. Furthermore, it seems to be inaccurate at reading the temperature. I threw away the packaging but I need to see if Target will return it anyway.

fast and easy to use
I got spoiled by using a restaurant/professional grade instant read thermometer but after 13 years it gave up and died. This is as fast and easy to use, two features I havent found in many box store grade thermometers. Only complaint is that it's pretty top heavy if you try to rest it in a shorter dish

Works exactly as I hoped! Easy to use and very accurate. The oversized read-out is really nice and love that it pivots. I really like to make sure things are cooked to proper temperature so this is a perfect addition to my kitchen!
