"Lactic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that offers superficial exfoliation to enhance smooth skin texture and radiance. This formula is supported by the addition of purified Tasmanian pepperberry extract to offer a comforting benefit to the skin in effort to reduce sensitivity that is associated with acid use. The formula is further supported with the inclusion of hyaluronic acid for multi-depth hydration. A milder 5% formula is available here.
This pH of this formula is approximately 3.8 and Lactic Acid has a pKa of 3.8. The pKa value is the most important aspect to consider in formulating with acids as pKa implies acid availability. When pKa is close to pH, there is an ideal balance between salt and acidity, maximizing the efficacy of the acid and reducing the potential of developing irritation. Higher pH values in such a case would increase the concentration of salt, which counter-intuitively would make the formula even more irritating than if the formula was more acidic.Contraindications: Lactic Acid should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Please refer to additional sun protection note and other warnings in provided Directions.

I have used other products from ordinary before and have been happy with them. I used this one for the first time at night, cleansed my face, applied and left it until morning then cleansed my face as usual. I looked in the mirror and could see the hyperpigmentation on my left cheek from the sun has disappeared greatly. It’s not 100% gone but I noticed a difference on my cheek and small area on my fore head after just one use. I will definitely continue using this and can’t wait to see the progression.

I’m shocked at how well this worked. I just used it for the first time last night and my skin texture is more smooth , smaller pores, and less dull. It’s kind of amazing. I have very acne prone combination skin, large pores, scarring, redness and am in my mid 30s. So as someone who’s tried countless products with little to no results I’m super excited about this product.

I use tretinoin, but still need a little supplementary exfoliation. This is gentle enough to use a couple times a week and keep my skin smooth and glowing. The price is incredible and I have no issue layering it with other products.

Broke me out - I NEVER get pimples I had like 20 gave me dark spots looked further into it and my bottle isn't the right color !! Was like pee yellow cant find a place to add photo wish I would have read what color it should be before I applied it to my face .:( worked on My skin for so long just to ruin it will this lactic acid in one day

this is a great exfoliating serum that has really helped with my texter and skin tone/ discoloration. Now I only use this in the P. M. and I rotate this with The Amino acid +B5 and three Nicinimide + zinc so like every other evening. Also for me, 3-4 drops max on skin thats been triple cleansed prior. then add no more then 3 drops of my other water based serums followed by the ordinarys cold pressed rose oil . my skin has never been better even at 41! I've got combo/dry leaning skin. Now if your skin is super sensitive or you you have some fresh break outs .. becareful!! this might not be the one, cause it can cause bad irritation if it gets on already inflamed or broken skin!!

Please.tell me.you didn't change the formula? I have used this product for years along with Vitamin C serum, and the last 2 bottles I recently purchased were significantly lighter in color (not the usual amber/light brown color). The text felt different as well. I'm not sure if I got 2 bad batches, but if this is the new formula, it seems watered down, is not as effective and I don't like it at all. Please keep original formula or change back. Do not like the changes at all. Was OOS for months and now a different color, texture with no updated information?? Unacceptable. Would not recommend if this is a new formula and not simply a one-off. Love original formula.

I love the ordinary. I use this as the first skin cycle day step at night. I end up using this once a week sometimes twice. Chemical exfoliants work way better than the micro beads! I have sensitive skin yet this product doesn’t irritate my skin although I would still recommend patch testing no matter what!
