Q: Why is HE on the front top of the bottle but is not high efficiency? This is misleading and led me to believe the product I was purchasing is HE. I think it's a marketing scam that needs attention.

A: Thanks for asking about the pH level of Tide Free & Gentle Liquid Laundry Detergent. The pH of all Tide liquids is 8.1 – 8.6, so they are slightly alkaline.

Q: The non-he formula recently changed at same time it changed from 92 oz to 84 oz. New formula doesn't suds or clean clothes & ingredients now match the he version. How can they be the same & different?

Why was the formula changed?! Loyal user for 13 years. No more after hives and rash from the new formula. It also bleached my clothes! Tide has lost a loyal customer.

Has a really bad chemical smell ! Free & clear soaps usually have no scent but this one smells gross….definitely gonna be returning asap !!!! I usually buy the target generic brand which I LOVE but wasn’t available & thought this one would be a good alternative but nope 👎

Hi guys, recently the 92 oz/ 64 load bottle appears to have been replaced with an 84 oz/ still 64 load bottle, but the measuring cap seems to be unchanged. This seems to be a bit deceptive to me, although the new detergent appears to be slightly more dense/viscous (when combined with some of the old detergent, there's a clear separation of phases). If the new formula is more concentrated, shouldn't the measuring cap reflect that?

The caps are shared across multiple products to minimize waste, so we use the same cap with different dosing instructions to ensure the best results. We are continually evaluating our packaging and dosing instructions and we'll pass along your comments.

I’ve used this for years one of those people that synthetic fabric feels scratchy on my skin. So my favorite old Calvin Klein 100%Cotton leggings they no Longer make are scratchy and hard all my laundry is. I thought it was Lysol Oder remover additive stuff (also unscented) I was adding so I stopped. I even tried adding downy unscented liquid. Fabric softener but cannot get the STIFFNESS OUT OF MY CLOTHES! It’s the Tide! I hope they’re not ruined permanently! Why do companies RUIN GOOD PRODUCTS? NEVER AGAIN! Done with TIDE so ANGRY HAVING TO WASTE TIME ANS MONEY TRYING NEW PRODUCTS!

Ever since they changed the bottle size of the non HE version, my family and I have been breaking out in rashes everyday with anything that was washed in it. I don’t know if they changed the formula too. Had to rewash all the clothes. Will no longer be purchasing.

This is the only detergent I use after having babies. It is gentle for their sensitive skin. Very little to almost no smell. It lasts a long time and the packaging makes it easy to dispense.

I've never had an allergic reaction to detergent. I've lived in multiple countries and used multiple detergents, although the Tide brand has always been a staple. I've been using Free and Gentle for 4 months. I didnt connect the rash that started occuring on my back every day with "free and gentle" because I had a lot of Trust in Tide. But I cut the detergent out and rewashed all my clothes and the rash vanished. Some ingredient needs to be investigated by Tide, because based on other reviews, my issue is not unique.

Really disappointed that benzisothiazolinone was added to the new formulation. Puffy eyes, swollen cheek, itchy face and contact dermatitis that looks and feels like cystic pimples after sleeping on pillow cases washed in the new formula. (Listing these symptoms for others who may also be allergic to benzisothiazolinone because it's terrible.)

I have been using the Tide Free and Gentle washing detergent for years, but the recent formula change is terrible! I began having sore and itchy acne, puffy eyes, partially swollen face, and more since I sleep on a pillowcase washed in the stuff! I believe the addition of the Benzisothiazolinone may be the cause of this.

Terrible new formula!

After many years of using the non-HE version, they changed the formula at the same time as it decreased from 92 oz to 84 oz, but still says 64 loads. It didn't suds up and didn't clean my clothes but instead stretched them out & left them stiff & stinky! The new ingredients list shows water as the FIRST ingredient whereas it used to be the LAST ingredient & the ingredients now match exactly to the HE version. It seems this is their attempt at Shrinkflation. Very disappointing & can no longer use the product. In addition to ruining my clothes, it also makes my skin itch. Bummer!
