About the Book
Logan Fisher has figured out the rest of his life before he turns thirteen. His plans are turned upside down when he learns a family secret.
Book Synopsis
Logan Fisher has figured out the rest of his life before he turns thirteen. Well, at least the rest of the summer after his upcoming birthday party. The Southern California boy plans to spend his days surfing and skateboarding and his nights playing video games featuring jet skis and skateboards.
His plans-and his life-are turned upside down when he learns a family secret: He's adopted.
When his parent's explanation doesn't quite add up in his mind, Logan does the only thing he can think of to find the truth. He runs away to uncover more secrets and discover his identity.
Along his journey, Logan encounters individuals who provide him with clues and possible answers to his questions. In the end, he discovers that family is far more than genetics.
Review Quotes
With its lessons about the true meaning of family, this book will resonate with fans of novels such as Shelby Van Pelt's Remarkably Bright Creatures. Logan is an inspirational character. His pursuit of the truth about his mother will encourage readers to remember that pursuing their goals and dreams in spite of the odds is important. For adults and young adults alike, this book is a unique page-turning take on the subjects of adoption and family. -Nicole Yurcaba, US Review of Books
Kim has written a lovely YA story about a teenager setting off across the country to find answers about his adoption. I loved all the compassionate, funny characters he met along the way, and her descriptions of the places he traveled made me want to set off on a road trip myself -- not a surprise given the adventure-loving author. Definitely adding it to the classroom library when it comes out in August! -Maddy Ryen, English Language Development teacher
To Whom It May Concern follows the once-in-a-lifetime adventure of thirteen-year-old, Logan, who discovers he is adopted and runs away to find his birth mother and the answers to his questions. Along the way, he meets a bevy of colorful personalities and learns that life is full of unconventional circumstances and that mothers who choose to give up their children for adoption do so for a multitude of reasons. As an adoptee myself, I can relate the urge to run away to find answers to the situation that led to my adoption; both my mom and I are adopted, so I know that questioning is a common practice among all adoptees. -Alex Kultgen, adoptee
