[1] Claims about 802.11ax Wi-Fi technology are based on comparisons of the expected maximum theoretical data rates for one spatial stream using 802.11ax at 160 MHz (1201 Mbps) as opposed to one spatial stream using 802.11ac at 80 MHz (433 Mbps) as documented in IEEE 802.11ax draft 3.0 spec and IEEE 802.11-2016 wireless standard specifications, and require the use of similarly configured 802.11ax wireless network routers. Use of 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard requires clients to also support the 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard.
[2] 802.11ax 2x2 160MHz enables 2402Mbps maximum theoretical data rates, 3X faster than standard 802.11ac 2x2 80MHz (867Mbps) and nearly 6x faster than baseline 1x1ac (433Mbps) Wi-Fi as documented in IEEE 802.11 wireless standard specifications, and require the use of similarly configured 802.11ax wireless network routers.
[3] Use of OFDMA requires clients to also support OFDMA.
[4] Saving clients' battery power requires clients to also support the 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard. Actual power reduction may vary as a result of network conditions, client limitations, and environmental factors.

Q: do i need a wifi services with this?

submitted by elkusb - 3 months ago
  • A: Hi! The Archer AX3000 will need to be connected to an existing Internet source (e.g., your modem, ONT, or gateway) via Ethernet cable in order to provide Internet connectivity over Wi-Fi and Ethernet to your home networking devices.

Q: Will this router work in a hotel room setting? I need a better option for traveling! Thanks

submitted by RexRexRex - 1 year ago
  • A: This router must be connected to the existing Internet source via Ethernet cable. If you plan to use it in a location where an Ethernet-based Internet source is available, then it can work. However, if the existing Internet source is not provided via Ethernet, it will not be able to connect.

Q: what is the range? Will it support devices throughout a 2000 sq ft home?

submitted by lout - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi! As long as the router is centrally located within the home for optimal WiFi coverage, it should work just fine. That being said, the layout of your home, construction materials and physical obstructions will play a role in WiFi efficacy in specific areas of your home.

Q: Does this function as a modem as well?

submitted by mrsdee - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi! No, this is an AX3000 WiFi 6 router, not a modem. However, it can be used in conjunction with a separate modem (and Internet service plan) to provide robust WiFi 6 and Internet connectivity for your home.

Q: How do you make this into a mesh system? The router by itself isn't reaching far enough.

submitted by home tech - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi! The Archer AX3000 is not a Mesh WiFi product. To ensure the best possible signal, it is important to make sure placement is as optimal as possible. Reducing obstructions and placing the router in a central location will help ensure your signal reaches the areas you need. In some cases, if relocating is not possible, using a range extender can improve the range and stability of your network. We offer various, robust WiFi extender options, which can be used in conjunction with WiFi routers to increase signal strength and stability.

Connection goes in and out every 30 minutes to an hour. Inconsistent wifi and do plan on returning. I will go for Netgear instead. Tried about everything to get it going but still terrible connection. Not satisfied at all.

I never set up a modem or router before. Wanted to get rid of the monthly cable gateway fee. Stopped in target for this and the Motorola MB8611. I had zero issues. Works better than the ISP provided and extremely easy set up and that’s coming from someone that’s never done this before. Very respectable performance for the money. My wife and myself have been working from home with it and no issues whatsoever. Get about 650 mbs on my iPhone in same room and 4-500 upstairs. 950 wired.

If this router didn’t cut out randomly all the time and the 2.4ghz actually worked it would be a decent router I’d like to return but this is the 3rd brand I’ve been through and they are all trash

They have a free iPhone app that helps with the set up, which was quick and easy. It’s working well with our Comcast Xfinity cable internet. The online speeds are as fast as expected. The WiFi is connecting well for our iPhones, iPads, and both Mac and Windows laptops. For some reason our TCL Roku TV wouldn’t connect to the WiFi, so we used an Ethernet cable from the TV to the router, which works well. Otherwise, everything works as expected.

Speedy network with painless setup

5 out of 5 stars
Brendan W - 1 year ago, Verified purchaser
I replaced a fancy Nighthawk router with this one when I started having issues with it. It helps to know you have to set up a router by plugging in directly and using a browser to go to the address 192.168.0.1, but after that the setup process was very simple and clear. At the same time, there's an optional Advanced menu that let me tailor my network exactly how I like it, including a neat option to automatically reboot once a week to avoid issues before they start. It was a quick, painless experience, and I couldn't be more happy with my connection now. Sometimes I can hardly believe some of my wireless devices didn't secretly plug themselves in directly.

I got this when we switched from cable to streaming using just the internet and fire sticks. This router pumps out a strong reliable signal perfect for streaming and gaming at the same time. It has 4 LAN ports, dual bands, 5G, and a companion app that alerts you when a new device connects. With all the features, this router is well worth the price!

Exceptional WiFi router, the best I have seen!

John - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
WOW! This WiFi router is unbelievable! It takes a wired connection (in my case 500Mbs service) and transmits it without loss of signal across the house. I didn't even think this is possible but I guess technology has changed. I wish I had this product last year when the pandemic started and the entire family was working off a single slow connection. This is just a game changer. I highly recommend this router. Without it you are just wasting your internet service bandwidth that we all pay so much for.

Pretty easy to set up. Seems to have definitely improved my internet speed. I replaced an older router that was at least 5 years old. No problems yet. Have had it 1 week. Only con is it’s bigger and ugly.

I didn't realize how much our old router was holding us back. Our speeds are a lot faster and more consistent with this new router. The app is really easy to use and I highly recommend downloading that too. Setup took less than five minutes. Rename your new network the same as your old to avoid changing passwords and setting things up again.

Tp is a well known brand and they have yet to disappoint. I ended up using this as a repeater rather than my main router. We have a big home so signal gets lost in the walls. I had tried repeaters and they sucked so my next option was this. I installed this in a casing above my front door about 3 rooms over from my main router. I needed strong signal for my doorbell. This solved the problem of doorbell not getting enough signal. I love how well it works. In addition to my doorbell now working, I can running wifi off my laptop in the kitchen without any streaming issues. Overall I'm pleased. Im posting pic of back of the box. Sometimes the specs in the description kinda are not the greatest.

Finally getting the internet speed I am paying for. Great price point. Easy set up. App is great for setting up parental controls and monitoring children activity. Offsite work and learning has multiple laptops running during the day with no problems or lagging. Multiple tablets, smartphones, streaming stick, and game console at night without a hiccup. No issues with heat, Great coverage in large two story home. I am extremely satisfied with this router.

While I admittedly haven't used the device for a long period of time I will admit that I can notice a difference between this router and my cable provided one. I got this to replace my cable router so that I can save a few bucks. I wanted to know if this would be enough to cover my household so that I can slowly but surely move on from cable and switch to streaming. I will continue using it for the next few weeks to see if it can provide all I need for my household and then I will put an updated review.
