There is are several factors that go into a mattress pad or what appears to be a mattress pad sleeping hot. Starting with the mattress, varying types of mattresses have different heat factors. For example memory foam whether on the top of mattress or mattress being 100% memory foam can cause a warm sleeping environment. Next are the sheets, blankets, comforters, etc. have differing effect on the sleeping environment temperature. For the mattress pad, cotton covers offer the best option to have a natural cooling. Second, many fabrics and fills offer water wicking which allows the moisture in or on the mattress pad to dissipate or spread out to help promote a more comfortable nights sleep. So, it was a long way to your answer, but the Casaluna mattress pad does offer one of the best mattress pad options to promote a more comfortable (not as hot) sleep environment.
