Q: does this water pic have the proposition 65

submitted by Frank - 5 years ago
  • A: Waterpik recently completed testing of our water flosser products for compliance with the California Proposition 65 law. Test results indicate no chemicals on the Proposition 65 list were detected or exceeded the Safe Harbor Limit; therefore, the Proposition 65 labeling has since been removed from our Oral Care products.

  • A: I believe it is probably because Waterpiks, as well as other such devices, can develop mold inside of the wand devices.

Q: What are the pros and cons of having a water reservoir instead of just a flosser?

submitted by e - 6 years ago
  • A: The Waterpik Water Flosser has been around since 1962 and is designed to take the place of traditional string floss and has actually been clinically proven to be up to 50% more effective than traditional string floss for improving gum health. You can read the clinical research here: https://www.waterpik.com/oral-health/clinical-research/ In addition, we have been awarded the American Dental Assoiciation's prestigious Seal of Acceptance for its efficacy and safety. You can read about that here: https://www.waterpik.com/oral-health/blog/waterpik-ada-seal-acceptance/

  • A: Less time refilling, better flow for flossing session Just dry it well and shake water out of the pieces

submitted byCooking Mama - 1 year ago
  • A: The only con I've noticed is that it is too loud.

submitted bySJ - 6 years ago

Q: Is the resivoir easy to remove, to pour out the liquid, and to clean?

submitted by Dee - 8 years ago
  • A: For longer life out of your Water Flosser, don't allow the reservoir to run completely dry when using. When the water pressure begins to decrease as the water level drops (you'll hear a change in sound), turn the unit off. It'll keep the pump from running dry.

submitted byno name selected - 8 years ago
  • A: Yes it is very easy to remove. Pulls right off for easy filling, emptying, and cleaning.

submitted bymoosecat - 8 years ago
  • A: Yes! I dry it on a clean wash rag in my bathroom window for next time

submitted byCooking Mama - 1 year ago

Q: Is the top to store additional (wet) waterpik tips? I can't see vents in the cover compartment to dry the the tips between uses nor a vent to air the reservoir which could lead to mold issues.

submitted by Linda - 11 months ago
  • A: Thank you. Between the standard cleaning, are there vents on the top to help dry the tips between uses?

submitted byLinda - 11 months ago
  • A: Hello Linda - The lid is there to cover the reservoir and store you're most used Jet Tips. We recommend cleaning your water flosser and accessories regularly to prevent any buildup. Here is a link to our cleaning blog for detailed cleaning information. https://www.waterpik.com/product-support/articles/how-to-clean-waterpik-water-flosser-vinegar/

Q: Does this work with 220 volts?

submitted by Eileen - 4 years ago
  • A: You need to change in the description that this runs on a battery as power source.

Q: I just ordered the gray one, but this is the only color that says...Battery -Powered?? All the other colors in this same model are electric. I need electric. Is this a misprint? Thank you!

submitted by Yvonne - 5 years ago
  • A: All Waterpik Ultra Water Flossers are electric. Thank you for alerting us to this error. We are working to get it fixed.

  • A: Question was asked in 2020. In December 2024, the description is still incorrect. I almost didn't buy it because of the incorrect description and wouldn't have known it's actually electric with a cord and plug if I didn't read the Q&A.

Q: Could I put mouthwash in this product?

submitted by Brittani Beksha - 8 years ago
  • A: We put mouthwash in ours often, and always run a bit of water through it after use. No problems so far after over a year!

submitted bymoosecat - 8 years ago
  • A: sure can! I use a mix of 50/50 mouthwash and peroxide and fill the contained with a little water. works perfectly.

Q: How long is the cord? Long enough to where you don't have to stay bent over the entire time flossing?

submitted by Jennifer - 3 months ago
  • A: Hello Jennifer - The power cord can be safely extended to 50 inches, and the hose extends to 30 inches. For more information, please contact us at 1-800-525-2774 or email smreviews@waterpik.com.

Q: Can we use it with salt in the water? This is recommended by our dentist. Thanks

submitted by Carol Colorado - 3 months ago
  • A: Hello Carol Colorado - A small amount of salt is fine in our counter top models, just not our cordless units. Be sure to run clean water through after every use. This will ensure that there is no residual salt in the water pathway causing buildup that can reduce performance and shorten the lifespan of the product.

Great! And then not at all!

I don't often write reviews, but I thought this shoul be shared. I bought the water flosser ultra about 2 months ago. Up to yesterday it was awesome. Better pressure than my previous water flosser (same brand, one step down from this), and all was well. Water got used up in the little holding tank faster, but that was because it was sucking in and spraying out more water - thus the higher pressure - which of course you can control. Yesterday, it stopped sucking the water through the the system. Not sure if it stopped right at the tank, or somewhere internally in the mechinism, but no water came out. So now I have to try to return this and get a new one. I still have the old one, by the way, and still use it everyday (my wife got the new one). That old is about 7 years old. Every once in a while I need to replace the handle for about $10 on Amazon because the little hose wears out at the connection on the bottom, but other than that, the old one is perfect. So take it for what it's worth. Maybe the unit is just a defective unit. Maybe they make them more cheaply now. Probably both.

Very happy with my waterpick. The top that holds the accessories needs to have a tab to hold it closed. Annoying when it doesn’t open and close with a tab or lock. It opens up and everything falls out.

I originally purchased this product to assist with dental care of my wife who has Alzheimer's. The device works very well for that purpose, but I have had to suspend use of it because I am still trying to figure out how to deal with the water that is used. I haven't given up, but still experimenting.

I have used warerpick for many years and have recomended it to others. After brushing and flossing, waterpick removes any remaining oral tooth and gum debris. As a result, I have no oral plaque to be removed at dental hygene appointments.

It was decent until it began to persistently leak around the rubber gasket. This is no small leak either. It is a massive amount of water all over the countertop each time I try to use it. I have cleaned and replaced the gasket to no avail.
