[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was honestly surprised by how well this portable AC worked! The setup was super easy, and we had it installed in our living room window within minutes. I didn’t think it would cool the space very well since the area is kind of open, but it actually made a big difference in about 20 minutes. The air felt cooler and more comfortable really fast. It has a few different settings, which is great depending on how much cooling you need. For the price, it performs way better than I expected. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a solid portable AC.

I bought the Whynter portable AC right before Hurricane Milton hit. I knew I'd have no power and needed a portable AC to keep us comfortable. It worked great! Only thing to keep in mind is you need the right extension cord to handle the power draw. I had an 18 AWG cord and it got HOT. When I replaced it with a 12 AWG cord it didn't overheat.
Works very well!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this in a garage with the door mostly closed when I'm working on a home project. Keeping the unit beside me, I run the exhaust hose temporarily under the door. The heat/ac will be enough to help temp extremes in the summer/winter and with the unit on wheels, I can roll it into a corner when not in use. Works really nicely for me!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I brought this Unit 2 years ago and love it the first time I turned it on. It was brought in the summer time. Due to its multi features, I was able to use the AC function and the dehumidifier in my sun room throughout the summer. The Heating function was used in the winter when the temperature was optimal. The compressor went out this year, after speaking with customer service, they agree to send me a replacement. The were very understanding with my issue. I would highly recommend this product to a friend.

We use this unit to cool the house in the summer and heat the house when temperatures are 45° or so. I’m surprised how well it heats our family room and kitchen area. We like the product so much we bought a second a few months later. I modified the window unit because our windows are so large. Notice I added a stand so that the water can drain into a bucket. My only complaint is that is a bit challenging to install the flexible vent pipes.
Great as AC, Not as heat source due to drain issue

This baby kept my sweltering Pacific NW cottage comfy in the peak days of summer. Now that it's cooling, I'm starting to use it for heat. But it shuts off in LESS THAN 2 HOURS b/c it needs to be drained. The auto-drain feature doesn't work in heat mode. And there are no instructions on how to rig up a permanent drain line - I'm not even sure it's a possibility without a pump. The until only needed to drain 1x in the whole summer though. The model is marketed as multi-functional but it's only usable as a heater and dehumidifier in the narrowest of circumstances without facing drain issues -- and that's what upsets me. I did hours of research and bought what I thought was the best product out there, and it's only the best product if you live in a specific climate (dry) and are using a portion of its features -- and you wouldn't need a dehumidifier if that was your climate. Do better Whynter.

I'm so happy to own this Whynter portable A/C. I've been using it going on four summers now. Even though I live at the beach some weeks during the summer can really heat up my condo. It was easy to set up, easy to move around, easy to put away for winter and does a great job keeping me and my dogs cool on those 80-90° days. This is perfect for my needs. It's not too loud either.
Is good but has it's quarks.

Cools a 1400 sq ft area well but has pros and cons. Pros Cools the room down quickly. Quieter btu's than other air conditioners. It sounds no louder than a box fan half the time. Noise canceling head phones block it out just fine. Works great on those sweltering 90+ degree days. Higher performance than other models on the market. Cons Air vent is top and directs airflow up not in direction you want. Hoses are difficult to connect and difficult to un-connect. If you don't do it just right they break. Once they're on, they're difficult to remove because the second hose restricts the room you have to release it. I gave up and just left them connected. Board is designed for a window that slides up and down. If you use it in slide left to right window you'll need to modify it. The company does not sell extension pieces to get the length you need. You're best bet is to go to a hardware store and buy a board and cut to size. The plastic material the board clicks into is rather weak. I don't use it and just cut two round holes into wood and that works just fine. Drainage hole at very bottom with no easy way to drain it. Mine came with no drip try and the number one complaint about the reviews is there's no easy way to drain this thing. If you make a drip pipe for this thing, the bucket can't be more than 3" off the ground or it's too tall for it. That barely lasts an hr and I wouldn't risk it. Yes the drainage hole will over flow and leak on the surface if it is full and the owner fails to drain it on a regular basis. I would not advise to leave this thing running unless you're home to watch it. I've seen too many reviewers complain about how their device over flowed and caused damage to their home when they went to work or out for an afternoon outing. Could use some grab slots to lift the thing. There are no handles or groves in the device to be able to lift it easily. These things are heavy and I would not advise moving it once you get it to the level on your home that you want it in. I used grip gloves to move it and the slick plastic made it difficult to grab onto. Not all of them come with a remote or drip try. Mine came with neither.

After One Week Of Use Pros: This ARC-14SH is Portable Furnace!! Most ceramic heaters and I have top name brands are 1500 Watts and I know it say this heater is 1300 watts and only goes as high as 77 degrees but what they do not tell you is that the fan blows at least 5 times or more powerful then the most powerful ceramic heater out there!! Using real Central like heat! The air condition is so powerful it feels like Central Air! Cons: An Air Conditioner / Heater of this magnitude should have a more pronounced LED screen it is too little for older eyes and older eyes are most likely to purchase this unit. (Furnace). Remote - the remote is an LCD but it needs a back light and it also needs Wi Fi for what this unit is totally about, Should had just used an app so the remote could be used from your cellular phone. (long story short!) The Air Conditioner Tubes are so big it can not sit close up under a window if that is what you are thinking your when getting it, Your are in for a real awakening the closest I could get this beast is 3 feet away from the window

As the owner of three portable AC's and the user of two of them, this is the best of the three. Am planning on another one to replace a smaller bedroom AC that does not cool as well

I purchased this some months back and to be honest, I didn't want to evaluate it until the heat of the summer was upon us here. I had my doubts about how effective the unit would perform given the flow of air shoots upward and it gets really hot here..110's are not out of the question. It's cooling approx. 400 sq ft of living space, basically like an apartment setup, bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom, and it so far has been wonderful. It keeps things comfortable during the day, runs quieter than the unit I replaced with it and at night, it literally gets cold! It was very easy to set up. I definitely recommend this unit.

June was hottest June in New Mexico since 60s we were told. We have 18 foot ceilings in our living room -- the AC was easy to install and we use it almost every day. We may buy a smaller one for the bedrooms but for now it cools us and is quik about doing so if we've had it off for awhile.

Bought this about two months ago in the highest heat of the North Carolina summer. It cools our 400 sq. ft room with no problem. The vent points upward, so we turn on our ceiling fan (mid-level speed) and it spreads the cool air right over our seating area below. Even if we turned on the AC at the end of a hot day (when the heat index had hit 105 degrees), it would quickly lower the temp in the room to a tolerable level. Can't wait to use the heater feature this winter.
