Q: do you need to drain a tank when full?

A: The air conditioner uses the patented auto drain or self-evaporative technology which exhausts condensation automatically in most environments. Please note that if the humidity is very high, the auto drain function will still exhaust the majority of the moisture. I haven’t even used this yet. I bought it because Target lists it cooling up to 800 ft.². It just arrived and it says right on the box that it only cools up to 400 ft.²

for a 12000 BTU air conditioner it definitely does not cool down the amount of space that is listed and there is no way to know how cold the room actually is because there is no thermostat on this AC.

I give this review a 3 stars. It is my honest opinion that I will write. The A/C cools my room down EASILY. No complaint there. The remote was a bit difficult to navigate at first but eventually I got it. The reason I gave a 3 stars is there is NO way to close the vent. It is always open. This is an easy invite to spiders and bugs when not in use. Unless you manually use the vent cap and put it on and take it off. For that reason alone I give this A/C a 3. It would of gotten a perfect five otherwise. Thank you.

I like Whynter products in general but feel ripped off with this model. 1. No adjustable air vents 2. Air vents do not electronically close or move 3. The timer is hard to use 4. In general, the digital display is not user friendly This machine really sucks

I have had this air conditioner for a few years. I bought it because it was recommended by Consumer Reports due to its double hose intake and exhaust feature. I am so glad I did. It cools the whole downstairs of my home. Is continually cooling with so far no condensation.

We have 700+ sq ft apt and this works well. It's setup in the living room blowing towards the 2 bdrs down the hall. I keep the bathroom & 1 bdr door mostly shut so the living room and my office/mancave stay cooler. I have a fan outside my room door to direct/boost the cool air in and it really helps.
We had to use the LR slider to exhaust through. I bought foam to block the ~60% opening above the window attachment cover. Also had to place towels in the slider gap between the 2 glass windows as the exhaust creates a pressure gradient and much warm air was being sucked through. Overall, the air flowing back in is very low. I double wrapped the exhaust tube with towels to insulate and can barely feel warmth. 1 towel still allows much heat to radiate through. The vent below the exhaust tube exit is the air that blows over the hot compressed coolant tubings so you want as little warm air being sucked back in to maximize efficiency.
The air coming out is quite cool. We live upstairs and the sun really warms up our unit, but this a/c keeps us comfortable. I'm glad we didn't get an 8000 btu. If you use this in a closed room I'm sure you'll be quite impressed.

Only used it for one night but it was very easy to setup myself. I had the setting on low since its not really that hot I just wanted to try it to make sure it worked properly and it got my room icy!! It cooled off my entire room and carried into my hallway and living room. I will be so thankful in the summer when its hot!
The only downfall is that you have to plug it directly into a power outlet (no surge protector or cord extension) so the options for me were limited. And not going to lie its an eyesore but well worth it!

I use this in vermont for the 600SF living area, third floor of a 4 floor building, unit works fine, its not too loud, but does not seam to have to cooling power of a 1200BTU window unit, go 14000BTU and this dual hose is key. Crazy how the single hose units suck out the cool air while pulling hot air from the outside in.

I have a raised ranch. I keep this in my smallest bedroom, my office, facing out into the hallway. It cools that whole side of the house. I have another larger Wynther model in my dining room facing the kitchen and it cools that whole half of the house too. I chose Wynther cause it doesn't have to be drained all the time when using it on air. It does a very good job and it is a nice size nd color.

I was impressed with the shipping. The unit shipped from Calif. to the East Coast and arrived ahead of scheduled delivery time and intact. Unpacking was very easy and so was the set up. We are cooling a enclosed patio that gets the afternoon sunset in a coastal community. So far, I'm very pleased with the overall experience. The unit is cooling as expected and is easy to operate.

First we received the A/C a day early which was great! Not difficult to set-up although the packaging was a pain to get out of the house. We only have windows that slide to the side in the area we wanted A/C. The set-up received was not quite as long as the window high but we were able to block the area and seal it so everything was useful. Our swamp cooler broke down and we have no cooling system for the main part of the house. It was sometimes over 90 deg in the house. There were times after the sun set it was cooler outside than inside. So, we were definitely hoping this would take care of the problem until we could afford to buy a 4 ton A/C. Turned it on after set-up and it started cooling the area we wanted cooled right away. We have tile floors and the dogs didn't even want to lay on the tile until we got the A/C and it cooled the area off. In fact our dogs spend a lot of time inside now where it is cooler. We also have a fan placed not far from it and we can direct the flow wherever it is needed most. Like when the oven is on and it's unbearable in the kitchen. Now we no longer have that problem. Our fireplace room, living room. dining room and kitchen are basically an open space and this A/C cools the whole area. We are very pleased with the A/C.

As soon as we turn this unit on we feel the cold air and it's has a extremely good fan on it. It's a bit cumbersome having to have a hose out of the window but we have new vinyl windows and didn't want to put our window units in them in case we damaged the frame. Not sure what impact it is going to have on our electric bill but we shall see. It says it is eco friendly so hopefully it won't be too expensive to run. Very pleased with this unit so far.

This did not work at all! I'm returning the product ASAP. I bought this AC for my bedroom and the room has not cooled down. Ive left it on for an entire day, lowered the temp to 61 and nothing has changed. I'm requesting a refund immediately. I purchased it after reading all of the great reviews but unfortunately did not have their good experience.

Bought this product based on cost and internet performance reviews. Very little to do to get unit ready for use. Very pleased with performance and easy of use 3 weeks in. The reviews said the air flow was strong and I agree. Cools the room quickly and is rather quiet!
