So happy I bought a wisdom panel!
I won’t lie, I mainly wanted to test my cat to check for the MDR1 gene because I’m a helicopter parent. But the more I researched Wisdom Panel and found out ALL that they had to offer, I was so impressed. Finding out that my very floofy orange and white tabby is 13% sphynx was a very hilarious surprise. So glad I can rest easier knowing she is not predisposed to over 40 different conditions and diseases, knowing her blood type was also very beneficial information in an emergency. Definitely recommend and will be ordering for my dogs!

Well worth the cost
Amazing to learn what breeds make up my little guy and reassuring to know he doesn’t have any genetic issues they test for. Very easy to use and results were received in the time stated and I’m in Canada. The test results are more informative and interesting if your cat is something other than a domestic shorthair. DSH usually come back with the breed noted as ‘American Domestic’ which you already know. It may still be worthwhile due to the genetic tests performed.

Not so sure about the results
Our kitten is seal point, ice blue eyes. Looks like a twin of our pure bred Tonkinese. Yet, the results say there is no trace of Siamese in him. Results say he should have a long tail. He has a short tail. I do believe he is a mix, to be sure. But no Siamese? How is that even possible? DNA doesn't lie, though. . . could there have been a mix-up in the process? I want a second look, but that is not in the budget. Oh, well, it doesn't matter. We know what he is no matter what the results: LOVED.

I adopted my cat from a shelter 18 years ago and have always wondered what genetics he has since people always told me my cat looks like certain breeds (shocker he was all 4 breeds we suspected) i got an insight on his blood type, and possible health problems which they green his genetics for!!! super cool and would recommend doing this if you guys want to get more in touch with your cats (or dogs)

I did a basepaws vs Wisdom comparison I got different answers but Basepaws was more indepth. I see now Faith has traits like a Sphynx and looks like a toy bob colorpoint. I see Phoenix as a baby Cornish Rex due to face and body shape. Basepaws went into real detail where Wisdom was very minor and quick in its details. I tried not to show photos so the dna would tell the truth and not pictures.

I am so pleased with this product. I am an RVT and so being able to see all her breeds and blood type and the genetic disease screenings is so amazing. I will be getting this done on my other 2 kitties!

We have submitted 5 cats
We have submitted 5 cats to Wisdom Panel and are now confident the results are inaccurate. We have a bobtail who came back with results of having a long tail. Fur types have been way off and the breeds are mostly just generic tabby cat, offering little to no insights. Not worth the money.

The swab in the plastic bubble is facing up. As a person when I see that I automatically just picked the envelope up that has the bubble on it that I see and I just tear it open -lthat was a mistake. You’re supposed to flip it over and read the instructions printed on the back. I open the wrong end. I tore the way you write your name the fact that you don’t see the instructions immediately when you open the box is not good human engineering in my opinion.
