Q: Has anyone had trouble with bacteria growth if this is left on the counter and not in the fridge?
A: Yes. It was fine for over a year and then black and pink mold began to grow on the upper chamber. Once that happened I couldn’t eradicate it and stopped using it.

Q: Ive had mine for a couple of months and filtered water now smells fishy! I saw another comment about this somewhere. What is causing this??
A: Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. After Zero Water filters have been exhausted and have not been changed, the water produced from the filter may have a distinct smell or taste and the TDS reading may be higher than your tap water. This is a result of the water passing over the “spent” Ion Exchange Resin beads. We have gone to great lengths in reducing that taste/smell in product development however this is simply a characteristic of filtering water with a Dual-Ion Exchange system. In order to avoid a change in the taste of the water it is important to test the water regularly and change the filter when the digital meter reads 006.

Q: does this filter remove calcium and/or magneseum
A: Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. Though we do not have specific percentages, the fundamental premise of ion exchange is to reduce TDS, which is significantly comprised of calcium and sodium, for that reason, we would say removal is near 100%.
