Great Dispenser - but buy a new spigot

Like a lot of the reviews have mentioned - the spigot leaks. It ended up leaking so bad over night that it ruined one of my cabinet doors below where it was sitting. It’s all warped from the water. BUT once replacing the spigot, it’s been perfect. It looks great and holds a ton of water. So just do yourself a favor and buy a new spigot if ya end up purchasing this. Not worth the hassle of leaks

I was thrilled to find a filtration system with glass container. Assembled it upon receipt and water literally poured around the threading of the filter where it screws into the water trough. Returned it for a replacement, and the second did the exact same thing. Not ever sure why this is a product they sell, cannot possibly be quality tested. Hope they do figure out how to fit a filter some day--that's literally the product, after all. The glass canister is a stellar idea and much needed.

Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. Apologies for the issue with the filter. Please try removing the filter, drying off the threaded area of the filter with a paper towel, then reinstalling, giving the filter one more hard twist the the right to complete the seal.

    Not quite...

We've been using this glass pitcher version of the Zero Water dispenser for about two months now. It's not quite living up to our expectations. The larger format is definitely more convenient for us. But... We wanted to reduce our exposure to plastics in hopes of moving to this more expensive glass dispenser, but alas, the filtered water is constantly sitting in the plastic Zero filter. Our fault for not realizing this beforehand. The second issue is the glass pitcher seats only loosely into the base (not well designed), so the glass pitcher can easily tilt and slide inside the base. The third issue is the dispensing valve is plastic and a bit flimsy. And we've had an issue with this valve leaking slightly, and emptied the pitcher, used more care in tightening the nut over the threads and gaskets. So far so good. But as much as the valve is opened and closed to dispense water, I'm concerned that the slow leak will return. And also with the glass pitcher able to tilt in the base, wonder how much the tilting influences re-positioning the valve, eventually leading to the slow leak? Hopefully Zero/Culligan will invest into a higher end version of this pitcher.

I like the convenience of not having to fill my Zero pitcher several times a day. The thickness of the glass and the water spout. There is nothing I don’t like about this product - worth the investment, priceless for the environment.

Thank you for your feedback, some of our customers have actually preferred to replace the spigot with a stainless steel model. You can find dozens of options on Amazon that are very affordable. Just search for "5/8ths spigot for water dispenser"

Bought this about 2 years ago. I love that it's glass - no plastic chemical leaching into water! The 40 cup capacity is great -- I can use it for all cooking, including pasta, vegetables. And I'. experiencing an unexpected bonus. When I lived in New Jersey, in an area with extremely hard water, a filter would last only about 2 1/2 weeks. But now, in New York City, with water that has low TDS, my filters last soooo much longer. I use one every 4 months or so!!!! So if you are taken aback by cost of filters, check the tds in your water supply. The Zerowater kit comes with a tds measuring tool. You might be really pleasantly surprised. I know I am!

Good size, but the spigot is plastic, and the gasket does not seal well and allows for the water to leak out.
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 6 months ago
Thank you for contacting ZeroWater, make sure the rounded sides of the gaskets are facing into the glass and then you must find a bit of a "sweet spot" if you will with the tightness of the nut on the inside of the spigot. It cannot be too tight and obviously it cannot too loose. It really takes trial and error sometimes but if you find the perfect tightness it will not leak.

I believe the filters are good but this pitcher is VERY poorly designed. The valve simply is as low quality as is possible. The hole for the spigot is like 2 inches from the bottom so if you can only use like 80% of the water.
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 6 months ago
The glass container is meant to be filled continuously, thus making the water beneath the spigot irrelevant. Once the water tests above the 006ppm mark simply empty the entire container into your sink then rinse, dry, and replace the filter.

    Great water filter but....

    locanica31 - 7 months ago, Verified purchaser
Honestly the structure if the filter made me nervous. I really wanted a glass water filter to minimize my water to plastic exposure. I love zero water products, they are great but….. the bottom platform made me really nervous about its stability. The dispenser comes with a silicon gasket that was too easy to not place in its right position if tighten too tight. The goal is great but the design not so much.

    Leaking spigot

    3 out of 5 stars
    CourtneyR31 - 7 months ago
    originally posted on zerowater.com
The filter works great and does remove all total dissolved solids according to the included TDS meter, which is the reason I didn't rate lower. The issues I have with the product though is the with spigot. It started leaking within a week or two, even after I tried tightening the metal nut on the back. But even if it wasn't leaking, it is annoying that the spigot opening is so high up on the container. There's a couple inches of water in the container that I can’t use because it's below the opening. It's weird to me because I think most people could situate it at the edge of a counter or shelf and not have issues getting a cup under it, but even if they couldn't, it still isn't high enough to to fit any cup under it, so I'm not sure why they put it where they did. The final issue I have with it is where the filter sits in the container. The end of the filter sits just a few inches above the bottom so because of the way gravity and water pressure works, the container only fills about halfway before there isn't enough pressure from the top basin to push anymore water out into the bottom basin. And because of where the spigot is, that means I get only a few inches of water before I have to refill it again. But maybe that's just an issue with any water filter pitcher, who knows?
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 7 months ago
Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. From time to time the filter can develop an air lock, some little air pockets or air bubbles that get trapped down inside the filter. Typically this is an easy and quick fix, simply remove the filter from the container and unscrew it from the tray. Then hold the filter sideways/horizontal and grip the filter very tightly and shake the filter with some good force side to side and back and forth 8 to 10 times. This will loosen the filter media and break the air lock. We apologize for the leaking spigot on your glass dispenser, we do have replacement spigot assemblies available. Please contact customer service directly at customerservice@zerowater.com or 1-800-503-2939

So far so good... one thing that I would have as an option is a dark colored glass. Filtered water as it stands can develop algea due to chemicals that prevent such things being removed. Dark glass would help stop algea growth.

I almost feel like every time I open it it’s going to break. That would be the one thing I would recommend on improvement for this product.

I've ordered extra filters. Now I cannot use the filters and the filter itself because it leaks :( Very disappointing.
