Q: I just bought this filtration system. Has anyone else experienced it filtering very slowly? Ours is coming out one drop at a time.

submitted by Chelley - 7 months ago
  • A: Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. From time to time, a filter may develop an air bubble or air pocket. Carefully lift the reservoir, grip the body of the filter at its mid-section and give the filter 4-5 squeezes while there is water filtering through. This will return the flow back to its normal state.

  • A: Yes. When a new filter is placed in it filters very slowly. This will speed up with time. It helps if you lift up the resovoir and then place it back down.

Q: How often do you change the filters and how do you know when to change them?

submitted by - 2 years ago
  • A: It depends on the water quality, the chart on the website says with a TDS of 400+ it will only last for 8 gallons.

Q: 1. For the 30 cup and the 20 cup containers, are the filters the same size? 2. Are they standard across all your products?

submitted by 1oilfield - 10 months ago
  • A: Yes, the filters are the same size! filters work across all of ZeroWater branded pitchers/ dispensers except for the Eco Pitcher.

Q: TDS also includes healthy minerals, if this removes all the TDS, then water will not have the required minerals, is not such water is unhealthy and against the recommended TDS by WHO??.

submitted by Aditya - 1 year ago
  • A: Our filtering technology does not differentiate between bad chemicals and good minerals that could be present in the water; the filter removes all of these. The FDA recommends that you receive essential vitamins and minerals from a well-balanced diet, and not necessarily from water alone.

I bought this hoping for it to taste better than brita.. it did for about a week and after 5x of filling it the filter started tasting like ROTTING FISH. I even spilled some of the water on my rug and the entire kitchen smelled like fish. I returned it because it was so horrible. I guess this is a common occurrence with ion exchanging filters.

Water tastes good, that’s why it gets 2 stars. But after only 3 weeks, the spigot (pour spout) leaks enough to soak a paper towel or napkin on the floor overnight. And the worst part is… in our area, Orange County, CA, we have to change the filters EVERY TWO WEEKS! It gets plugged and stops emptying the filling reservoir, then starts tasting lemony. If you web search the product and lemony taste, the company says it’s because the filter is done. I reached out to Zero Water customer support and did not get a response after several days. We are trying to figure out what to switch to and I would not recommend.

Please design the bottom so it is flat so people with white wire fridge shelves have more stability with all your units. It shouldn't be tippy.

Broken too soon

Loved my zero water 30 cup. Unfortunately it broke after a little bit over a year. Would’ve given it 5 stars otherwise. I was literally dispensing water when the button flew off. Water tastes great and it’s convenient for my large family. Our fridge doesn’t have a water dispenser so this was a good option. Not sure if I’ll buy a new one.

This is a great unit. It didn't fit in our fridge, so we bought another smaller unit for the fridge and put this one on the counter. Now we miss our counter space, so I'm looking at buying the 5 gallon unit. Can't afford it yet.

Thank you for the feedback I have shared your email with our Product Design Team. I tested this here at the office and was able to get the meter to stay in place by pushing the meter down into the intended slot with some moderate downward force. If you are storing your dispenser in the refrigerator we recommend keeping the meter in a kitchen drawer or other dry place as this will be better for the longevity of the meter.

Pooly designed, buy the pitcher instead

I like zero water filters but this is not a good one. I have 2, one is a pitcher and then this one. The pitcher is great and easy to use. The water filters quickly but does slow down a little when the filter is getting older. The 30 gallon filter system is not well designed. The filter pressure is not strong enough to push the water through so it takes a long time to filter water even with a brand new filter. When the filter has been used for a little while, but is still good, it can take hours to filter even enough water to fill a glass. Also, the button to push is very difficult to push and the water comes out slowly. I missed the return windows due to busy life, but I dislike this one so much I plan to recycle it and get another pitcher instead.

The large reservoir is helpful. Bought this as a replacement for my prior Zero-water of the same model. It lasted about three years with daily usage. The only downside is the water tester that came with this one is slightly larger on the ends than the older one and does not fit easily into the slot made for it.

The worse Zerowater Dispenser!!

My family has been using 3 of the 12 cup pitchers for about 4 years and we haven't had any problems with water coming out of the filter and filling the pitchers. I drink a lot of water so I decided to buy the 30 cup dispenser. The problem is not only the water take a long time to fill half of the dispenser, but it never fills to the top. I called Zerowater CS and they said problem was due to air in the filter. I did what they said, and I still have the same problem. I think the problem is the bottom of the filter is too close to the bottom of the dispenser and water can't flow out of the filter hole. Anyway, I will be trashing the dispenser because it's totally unusable!!
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 2 months ago
We certainly apologize for the continued frustrations with the filters, the filter getting air locked like this is a common occurrence with a gravity fed filtration system. Unfortunately it is just somewhat the nature of the technology, generally if you put an inch of water in the reservoir and then grip the middle section of the filter with both hands and firmly squeeze the filter in a pumping action until you are completely certain that there is no more air coming out of the top of the filter this will solve the issue for the life of that filter. If you do not clear all of air from the filter this issue will continue to compound itself over and over. Also never fill the reservoir directly from the faucet or spigot from your sink as this is naturally aerated and will force air down inside the filter. It is best to fill the reservoir with a large glass or measuring cup and pour into the corner of the reservoir away from the center of the filter. If there is ever a filter that simply just will not fix itself when the aforementioned trouble shooting steps have been followed we are more than happy to replace that filter. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. From time to time, a filter may develop an air bubble or air pocket. Carefully lift the reservoir, grip the body of the filter at its mid-section and give the filter 4-5 squeezes while there is water filtering through. This will return the flow back to its normal state.

It was really great, until it stopped working. Less than 6 months of use and the filters don’t let the water pass through. Water stays trapped in the top reservoir for days without movement.

Acidic water after 2 weeks of use. I even reached out to the company and they sent me a new filter. Put that in and again 1-2 weeks later the water became acidic. Trash this and get a Brita, trust me.
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 2 months ago
Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. Water from a new ZeroWater filter is a neutral 7, in most cases. As the filter nears exhaustion the pH reading will become slightly acidic. Filter life is determined by your specific tap water, the higher your water is in Dissolved Solids the shorter the life of the filter will be and vice versa.

I bought this filter upon seeing the NSF certification. The system came with a 30 cup pitcher and a water filter. The water filtration for the first week was so great , it resulted in amazingly good tasting water. But the water started to taste lemon-y starting from the second week. TDS reading of my tap water before filtration is 300. I am expected to change the filter probably after a week's use (roughly about 7-8 gallons of filtration ). I feel this is ridiculous :( .
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 2 months ago
We apologize for the short life on the filter, with your tap water at 300ppm you should have gotten 15 gallons of filtered from the filter before it would need to be changed. We will be happy to send you a new filter at no charge, just give us a quick call at 1-800-503-2939

Nothing is perfect. Do these come in the under the sink size without a lot of pipe changing? I just wish it lasted longer, weve used ours for only a month and it’s starting to go to 006. At least the chemical taste is mostly gone. The price is a bit high for me. Price of health I guess.
