A: Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. Though we do not have specific percentages, the fundamental premise of ion exchange is to reduce TDS, which is significantly comprised of calcium and sodium, for that reason, we would say removal is near 100%.

Leaks a lot - 1 day ago, Verified purchaser
I am now on my second replacement that is leaking after the first filling. There is something wrong with this batch of tanks, the entire design, or Target's handling. Skip it. Buy a Britta or something. I only purchased again because I had unused filters from the previous version that worked for years until the case cracked during cleaning. They have modified the design, which has reduced the quality. I now have to return the same device due to the same malfunction.

The filter in this works great and truly makes your water taste like nothing, just completely clean. However, I bought and returned one because the container had a crack. Got the replacement home and it also immediately started leaking due to a crack.
Wish I read the other reviews first

Like a lot of other people, this worked amazing for the first 2 weeks and then all of a sudden the water is undrinkable. The tap water literally tastes better than this. I tastes like someone squeezed moldy lemon in the water. I wish I still had the box so I could return it.

Really loved this filter as it finally got my husband to stop buying bottled water. I’ve had it for maybe 2 months and now it floods my fridge every time I refill it. Will be returning.

Water smells and tastes fishy after 3 weeks of use. Apparently this is a common occurrence because of the filter they use. 1/10 wouldn't buy again.

So far this filter has been great! I use this to fill my 40oz water bottles and it last me quite a while compared to the hand pour one we used to have from Brita. I haven’t had any of the leaking or funky tastes with our container or filter either. We have been using ours for a couple weeks now and will update if anything changes.

FILTER LASTS 5 DAYS ONLY - 1 month ago
Our filter only lasts 5 days, and when the filter goes bad you can taste something terrible in the water. why does it have to make the water taste terrible after the filter goes bad? that is so weird to me. if the filters were less expensive, but cannot afford to have to replace filter every 5 days..... i am super bummed because the water tastes great at first

It leaks, just like people said. And not even from where you expect.

This is my second zero water system, I got the other one quite a while ago and it was the other design. And yes, this leaks! I thought I was crazy, and I also thought “there’s no way this will happen to me.” The company should be ashamed. There’s a random hole to the left of the spout for mine. It doesn’t even leak from where you would expect it to, which makes this even more puzzling. I paid $50 for the inconvenience of having to go back to the store? And hope the issue is resolved on another one? I’m irritated.

I like that it holds a lot of water because we drink a lot of water. I haven’t had any issues with leaking or a fishy taste like some of the other reviews. My only complaint is how long it takes to fill up when adding water

It started leaking after i set it up so i assumed a crack no problem it happens… I returned it got another one and now the filter is taking several hours to filter water and i read the reviews and thought wow no wonder it was on sale $10 off original price. I had a large britta filter for years never had problems with it so now i regret putting it in the trash.

I ignored the negative reviews, as I did not want to buy a britta. This leaks EVERYWHERE. Ruined the food in our fridge and after a couple weeks it developed a “fishy” smell. So gross. Will be returning.

In theory, this item is great. Unfortunately, the production of it is lacking. It constantly leaks, flooding the top shelf of our fridge and destroying any paper carton in its path. The filter time is very slow, but the water tastes great. I have reached out to the company before I toss it in the trash and am waiting to hear back.

I could definitely tell a difference in taste of water, so it does filter well. However, I noticed very quickly (like maybe 2 weeks?) that it was no longer reading zero. For the price of the system, it’s not worth the short filter life!! (It’s $17 for a replacement filter through Target)
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 4 months ago
Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. We empathize with your situation and we have spoken with many customers with this issue. Some of our customers have used other, traditional filtration systems, such as a Culligan Whole House Filter to treat the water prior to filtering through a Zero Water filter. In many cases that will cut the TDS level down enough to make the use of ZeroWater more economical. There is very little we can do to extend the life of our filters when the water supply is so high in TDS. Our filters are designed to remove over 99% of dissolved solids; in areas with high TDS readings filter life will be short.

If you live in Long Beach you will need to buy a filter every two weeks. I had one for myself and my dog & it did not last. Water tastes great but it also doesn’t filter out certain things.
