Q: does any part the system pass waterthrough filter containing copper? does this potentially allow copper levels to raise? Eco filter brand adds 6x copper cuz it passes through filter containing copper.

submitted by spring cleaner - 1 year ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. No part of the LifeStraw Home system—including the membrane or carbon filters—passes water through any component made of or containing copper. As a result, the filtration process does not introduce copper into the water. In fact, the activated carbon and ion exchange resin used in our filters are designed to reduce heavy metals, including copper, if present in the source water. I hope this helps answer your question!

Q: Do the unopened cartridges dry out after how many months in storage?Do cartridges fit all your pitchers & counter top models? doesn't bacteria build up if you do not refrigerate pitcher after filling?

submitted by spring cleaner - 1 year ago
  • A: Hello! Thank you for your questions. I hope I can help clarify. Shelf Life of Unopened Filters: Our carbon + ion exchange filters do not have a shelf life if left unopened and stored in a cool, dry place. Filter Compatibility: The carbon + ion exchange filter is compatible with all LifeStraw Home models, including glass and BPA-free plastic pitchers and dispensers. It’s a universal fit across our countertop-style products. Bacteria Buildup Without Refrigeration: Once the pitcher is filled, we recommend using the filtered water within 24–48 hours if it's kept at room temperature. Refrigeration helps slow any potential bacterial growth, especially in warmer environments. If not refrigerated, we suggest refreshing the water daily for best taste and safety. Let us know if you need help with anything else.

Q: Can these filters be left to dry out and then beginning to use quite a time later- like 3 weeks? Or do these filters need to remain in use (wet) continuously?

submitted by Lisa - 2 years ago
  • A: For durations less than a couple of months they can be dried out and stored in a sealable, airtight container or bag. If you're going to be storing this for more than two months we recommend replacing the carbon filter when your resume use.

    Dispenser port

I don't like the dispensary port. It makes a mess of dripping water all over because it empties in drips. Poor design.

    OK for a while

It’s a big container and the water tests great keeping some of the minerals and all that. But the dispenser developed pink mold after a few months and theres basically no way to clean it.

Love the product but. . .

I love my LifeStraw pitcher. It works very well, and I’m very happy with it. However, changing the filter can be a little challenging, especially for an older person. That is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5!

    Large filter

Bought large replacement filter and one month later, water barely gets through. Replaced smaller filter twice with little change.

    Home dispenser

I am happy with my Lifestraw Home dispenser. It gives me comfort to know I'm not getting chemicals, etc. In my drinking water. It would be better if the spigot wouldn't drip, but I can deal with that.

    Dispenser and pitcher

Love the easy pour in and pour out functionality, especially since it is better than the standard brands in stores I have used in the past. Water tastes so much better than the standard brands in stores.

    Suction cups needed

The equipment could use suction cups attached to the bottom to keep it from sliding back when the button is pushed to dispense water Also, I think you would have a wide open market for refrigerator filters that do what the dispenser does. There is nothing on the market that filters out microplastics

    Easy for Better Water

I like the package of home replacement filters that have enough for one year. 1 membrane filter and 3 carbon filters. I understand that replacing the filters by time rather than by amount of water filtered is easier, but I wonder if I am replacing too often for a household of one. I took a star off for the cost.

I feel more confident in my drinking water now!

Having recently moved, my water source is now rainwater collected from the roof and gutters. After doing more research, I became more aware of just how many things could be contaminating my drinking water. My research led me to LifeStraw feeling like a safe and affordable option for my water filtration. I am happy I made the switch to this new water pitcher!
