Q: does any part the system pass waterthrough filter containing copper? does this potentially allow copper levels to raise?
Eco filter brand adds 6x copper cuz it passes through filter containing copper.
submitted by spring clean - 1 year ago
A: Thank you for your question. No part of the LifeStraw Home system—including the membrane or carbon filters—passes water through any component made of or containing copper.
As a result, the filtration process does not introduce copper into the water. In fact, the activated carbon and ion exchange resin used in our filters are designed to reduce heavy metals, including copper, if present in the source water.
I hope this helps answer your question!

Q: Do the unopened cartridges dry out after how many months in storage?Do cartridges fit all your pitchers & counter top models? doesn't bacteria build up if you do not refrigerate pitcher after filling?
submitted by spring clean - 1 year ago
A: Hello!
Thank you for your questions. I hope I can help clarify.
Shelf Life of Unopened Filters:
Our carbon + ion exchange filters do not have a shelf life if left unopened and stored in a cool, dry place.
Filter Compatibility:
The carbon + ion exchange filter is compatible with all LifeStraw Home models, including glass and BPA-free plastic pitchers and dispensers. It’s a universal fit across our countertop-style products.
Bacteria Buildup Without Refrigeration:
Once the pitcher is filled, we recommend using the filtered water within 24–48 hours if it's kept at room temperature. Refrigeration helps slow any potential bacterial growth, especially in warmer environments. If not refrigerated, we suggest refreshing the water daily for best taste and safety.

Q: Can these filters be left to dry out and then beginning to use quite a time later- like 3 weeks? Or do these filters need to remain in use (wet) continuously?
submitted by Lisa - 3 years ago
A: For durations less than a couple of months they can be dried out and stored in a sealable, airtight container or bag. If you're going to be storing this for more than two months we recommend replacing the carbon filter when your resume use.
The product has received a mix of positive and negative feedback from guests. Many appreciate the great taste of the filtered water and the convenience of the large capacity dispenser. However, some guests have expressed concerns about the quality and design issues, such as leaking and difficulty in replacing filters. Overall, it is seen as a reliable option for those looking to improve their water quality while being environmentally conscious.

Clean Water Confident
Installation was easy and the filters are processing water at a faster rate than the original filters did. We use our LifeStraw 35-cup pitcher for one month each year while vacationing at our cabin. It will be months before using the LifeStraw again. We found 3 different sets of directions for storage of the filters; one set with original pitcher purchase, another with filters, and a third online on your website. This was a bit confusing. We opted to discard the the charcoal filter, use the bleach water soak then rinse the other filter and then store it in the saline solution.

Lacking, not ADA friendly
My complaint is that the dispenser has to be held down to dispense water. You can't just flip a lever and the water comes out until you close it. This makes it very difficult to use when filling a pitcher or large glass, especially when you only have the use of one arm. Also as you push the button to dispense water the whole dispenser will begin to slide away from you. Not ADA friendly.

LifeStraw Home 7-Cup Pitcher
This pitcher served me well on a road trip when using tap water at motels and Airbnbs. I like how quickly it filters the water through. Since I have one of the Go Series water bottles from a previous trip I know the company's reliability. Thank you for a great product!

Water tastes like plastic
We have cleaned our filter several times after purchasing and the water tastes like plastic. Given the cost of the filters,I would expect better tasting water than straight out of the tap.

The best!
I’ve tried several sink filter attachments and pitcher filters and none do it the way this one does. I recommend this to everyone.

Cracked within 2 weeks of use
Very poor quality and so frustrating as I bought this to replace the glass one that shattered that I had for over a year. This cracked in 2 weeks with normal use. I have bought a lot of life straw products and am really disappointed with the decline in quality

Dispenser port
I don't like the dispensary port. It makes a mess of dripping water all over because it empties in drips. Poor design.

OK for a while
It’s a big container and the water tests great keeping some of the minerals and all that. But the dispenser developed pink mold after a few months and theres basically no way to clean it.

Love the product but. . .
I love my LifeStraw pitcher. It works very well, and I’m very happy with it. However, changing the filter can be a little challenging, especially for an older person. That is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5!
