Q: Does this alter water's alkalinity? Beyond improvements in pH after chlorine removal? I'm looking to use this with bottled alkaline water; as a dispenser more than a filtration system.
A: Thanks for reaching out with your question. The LifeStraw Home 10-Cup Pitcher is designed to improve the taste and safety of tap water by reducing contaminants like chlorine, microplastics, PFAS, and heavy metals. While chlorine removal can result in a slight shift in pH, the pitcher is not designed to alter water’s alkalinity in a measurable or consistent way.

Q: Does this work on well water?
A: Thanks for getting in touch with us! LifeStraw products are designed and tested following NSF 231 and NSF 53 standards of working microbiologically with freshwater sources, including well water on the claimed parameters. According to NSF 231 and NSF 53 standards, the testing protocol applies for contaminated individual sources, well, and springs but not wastewater and raw sewage. In freshwater sources, contaminants and quality vary by location and would require additional research on your part. Hope that helps answer your question!

Q: Does it filter fluoride?
A: Hi Jessica, The LifeStraw products are designed to remove contaminants such as bacteria, parasites, microplastics, heavy metals (including lead), PFAS, and more depending upon the specific filter. However, it does not remove fluoride, as our focus is on reducing harmful contaminants while retaining essential minerals. Let us know if we can be of any additional assistance!
