Q: Do these remove total dissolved solids?
A: Thank you for the opportunity to discuss Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Krystal. We don't make claims about TDS reduction at Brita, because TDS isn't a measurement of water safety. It is only an aesthetic (taste) measurement. We focus on what we think matters most to people, contaminant removal and taste. Our filters are certified to reduce contaminants like lead, mercury, cadmium, among many others. If you have any additional questions, please visit our website or give us a call at 800-242-7482 using reference number 211228-000422. Thanks for allowing us to help. Alexandrea from The Brita Team

Q: At least 75% of the Longlast filters I have used this past year get clogged and stop working after just 3-6 days. Flow holes are too small and air bubbles get trapped. Whacking filter is ineffective. What do you suggest to address this?
A: Hello, and thank you for being a part of our Brita family. We're sorry to hear that our Longlast is filtering slowly. Rest assured that we take all of your feedback seriously, and for allowing us to address this issue. For further assistance, please give us a call at 800-242-7482, and mention this reference number: 190917-000873. Q: My Brita pitcher has light to indicate when to replace the filter. Will that light still work properly with the Elite filter that lasts 6 months even though my pitcher came with a regular filter that lasts only 2 months?
A: Thanks so much for asking. Yes, you would just reset the timer for the Elite Filter. To begin troubleshooting, take a look at your pitcher to determine where the indicator is located. If the indicator is on the top of your pitcher’s lid: 1. Press and hold down the STATUS button. Hold it there for 2 seconds if you’re using a white filter or 6 seconds if you have a blue filter. 2. Release the button when the green light next to your filter icon flashes three times by itself. We hope this helps, and if you have more questions, call us at 800-242-7482 and mention #241118-000421. Have a wonderful day! Jeffery from The Brita Team

Q: Does the elite filter iron out of tap water?
A: Thanks for asking! While our Elite Filter works well to reduce chlorine (taste & odor), lead, mercury, cadmium, benzene, asbestos, Class 1 particulates, and more, it isn't certified to reduce iron. As long as your water is municipally treated, you can still use our filters. If you have additional questions, please call us at 800-242-7482 and mention reference number 240408-000555. We hope this helps! Ashlee from The Brita Team

Q: We have well water with magnesium. Does this filter magnesium?
A: Hi there. Thanks for your interest in our Elite Filter, and we're happy to answer your question. While it works great to reduce chlorine (taste and odor), cadmium, 99% of lead, mercury, class I particulates, asbestos, and benzene, it doesn't reduce magnesium.
