Q: What filter do you use with this container?

submitted by Yiddy - 3 months ago
  • A: The LifeStraw High-Capacity Dispenser uses two filters: Membrane microfilter (lasts up to 1 year): removes bacteria, parasites, and microplastics. Activated carbon + ion exchange filter (lasts up to 2 months): reduces lead, mercury, PFAS, chlorine, and improves taste. Both are standard across LifeStraw Home products.

Q: Does this remove flouride as well from tap water?

submitted by Geri - 4 months ago
  • A: Thanks for reaching out! The LifeStraw products are designed to remove contaminants such as bacteria, parasites, microplastics, heavy metals (including lead), and PFAS. However, it does not remove fluoride, as our focus is on reducing harmful contaminants while retaining essential minerals.

Dispenser nozzle gushes and drips

I really like 35-cup size. However,, the dispenser nozzle is poorly designed. The dispenser nozzle hangs over my kitchen floor from the counter-top. The dispenser nozzle has to be carefully opened to prevent it from gushing like a flood and overflowing the mouth of whatever I am filling. Additionally, it always drips; always has a drop on the nozzle which ends up on the floor. Besides all that the main filter did not work, and I had to replace it with one from my LifeStraw pitcher.

Waiting to hear back from LifeStraw. My dispenser began leaking from underneath and behind the spout. I have not had the product for 6 months. This is such a bummer and I don't know how to solve or fix the problem.

This was a gift for my son and his family. They use it every single day and love it. No longer do they have to buy distilled water for their baby's bottles. The LifeStraw has been a welcome addition.

Leaking Problems

I purchased one dispenser which initially worked well for about 2 weeks until it began to leak from the nozzle. Since then, I’ve gone through two replacement units which both ended up leaking from the same place as the first. The fourth unit which was meant to be an updated version (due to known leaking issues of the past version), began leaking upon usage the very first day.

3 cup in white - 17 days ago, Verified purchaser
This pitcher has a constant drip from either the white spout or coming from around the white seal attached to the pitcher. Had to add jar on the floor to catch water.

We live in New Orleans, a city where you can't trust the water at all. We have used Lifestraw products for years while camping. At first, this product was great. Now, less than a year of owning it the spout leaks (as others have stated) frequently enough that we keep a cup under it at all times. Also, the filter housing pops off every so often, thus carbon filter becomes detached when full of water. Essientially, the unfiltered water mixers with the filtered water. This never happened until we replaced the carbon filter, and every time we swap it out as recommended. Long story short, it works with major design flaws. I would love to see this size reconfigured.

Poorly Designed Product

I like Lifestraw, but this is a poorly designed product. It leaks from where the external spigot attaches to the reservoir, and based on the number of reviews saying the same thing, it's either a design or materials flaw. Avoid this one.

It’s leaking somewhere

I’ve noticed for about a week, there is water around the base. I pick up the Lifestraw and move it, I wipe up the water then I wipe the bottom of the Lifestraw and when I go back in about 6 hours, I have to wipe up water. Within those hours, if you think it’s because some has spilled water, the answer to that is no one has used it because I’m the only one here and I didn’t use it. I even turned the container upside down to see if there is a seam where it could be leaking, but I don’t think so. I think it may be leaking at the spout. Is there a way to tighten it up? That’s the only other place I can think of where it may be leaking.

1st one leaked. Sent us a second one. It leaks also. In 2025 do you think they could make a spout that doesn't drip???? Haven't seen one on this big pitcher yet. Maybe 3rd time is a charm?????

Love the taste of water but disappointed that the dispenser leaks!

I love the whole idea of drinking, clean water and not using disposable bottles with plastic. However, I believe I received a faulty dispenser simply because they leak at the spigot terribly. If it would be possible, I would like to get a new spigot to fix this issue. I have requested a refund because of this issue. Any help you can provide me is greatly appreciated.

I just received a replacement because my 1st dispenser leaked. The new one started leaking within a few weeks and leaks even more than the 1st. We love the water, but the leaking is a pain in the neck.

A drop of water is left on spout/nozzle after each use. If not manually dried it drops to the floor. Also the spout connection leaks. Unusable.

This was a replacement one since the first one I bought immediately started leaking. This one also leaks. It’s the seal around the nozzle.
