Q: When do I change the filters? Days? Months?

submitted by KimPossible610 - 1 year ago
  • A: Filter life is not gauged in time, we use gallons which is much more accurate. Every ZeroWater system comes with a TDS Meter to test the filter water and once the reading gets to 006ppm or higher it is time to change the filter. Average filter life is 20 to 25 gallons of filtered water per filter.

Good filters but still too much waste for me

Really wish there was a legitimate take-back program for used filters like Brita does. These filters work better but because it still seems like a lot of plastic waste, I am always considering switching to an alternative. Please consider working with TerraCycle like Brita does.

I have used Zerowater for several years. As of late, I find the water filters do not last as long as they once did. It seems I have to replace more often.

I like the fact that the filter does not require running water and trying to judge when it will taste good! Insert the filter and next comes great water. I also like the tester it takes the false claims out!!!

Zero Filter system

After purchase the large system and testing my water, I need to find a different way to filter. Because I would only get 12 gallons per filter and that wouldn't be very cost effective. But It sure does filter out everything! Better than others I have tried.

Tap water blues

ZeroWater filters have always been a little pricey but are totally worth it. The fill tank on my coffee maker would have white residue after a few days of using tap water. I would clean it out and it would return. I've been using my ZeroWater water now for some time. No more residue and great tasting coffee. I am truly happy with this product and highly recommend it.

This works fantastic at filtering our awful water. The water in my house gives me migraines and makes me sick. Using these filters has completely changed that. I can drink it just fine without spending as much as bottle waters as I was. I'm telling all my friends who will listen about zerowater.

i have been using these for a while now these are waaaay overpriced in my opinion yes they are great BUT NOT as Good as they use to be , quite frankly they used to last longer... when i get them they are always wet i dont need anyone to test them... nevertheless i do like them,, also i would love if you made the faucet attachment fit the normal kitchen faucets..

Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. The contents inside the filter are rinsed with purified water before it is packed. This can cause condensation inside the bag or lid, which is harmless. The filters are very expensive; I am thinking to store that jar; It s cheapest to have gallons of water
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 2 months ago
Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. We empathize with your situation and we have spoken with many customers with this issue. Some of our customers have used other, traditional filtration systems to treat the water prior to filtering through a Zero Water filter, in many cases that will cut the TDS level down enough to make the use of Zero Water more economical. There is very little we can do to extend the life of our filters when the water supply is so high in TDS. Our filters are designed to remove over 99% of dissolved solids; in areas with high TDS readings filter life will be short. Coupons can be printed at https://ww.zerowater.com/savings

Smells and tastes like fish

I’m not one to leave reviews ever. I only do if I am extremely dissatisfied with a product. I bought my pitcher and filter about a month ago and the water started smelling and tasting like fish. I am giving it two stars because it is user error, I should have looked more into it I suppose, but I really think this should be disclosed because it is awful. Even if Brita and other filters go bad, this doesn’t happen and the water is still edible. Something this expensive should need replaced so quickly.
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 2 months ago
Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. After Zero Water filters have been exhausted and have not been changed, the water produced from the filter may have a distinct smell or taste and the TDS reading may be higher than your tap water. This is a result of the water passing over the “spent” Ion Exchange Resin beads. We have gone to great lengths in reducing that taste/smell in product development however this is simply a characteristic of filtering water with a Dual-Ion Exchange system. In order to avoid a change in the taste of the water it is important to test the water regularly and change the filter when the digital meter reads 006.

We have used ZeroWater for years and don’t know what we would do without it. We drink a LOT of tea and this makes every cup taste amazing. Plus, it’s way more environmentally friendly than individual bottles of water.
