Anchor wall plaques are made from a mix of materials: MDF panels (often 0.5-inch lithograph-mounted), solid wood, metal or iron, and fabric-backed embroidered plaques. The embroidered versions typically use a wooden backing with a fabric face composed of about 70% polyester and 30% cotton.

Anchor wall plaques use several decorative approaches: high-quality lithograph prints mounted on 0.5-inch MDF with hand finishing and foil-edged sides; embroidered fabric panels with stitched designs; distressed or painted wood finishes; and printed vintage-style metal signs.

Mounting varies by design: many plaques arrive ready to hang or are sized to be leaned on a shelf. Metal signs often include pre-drilled corner holes, and some plaques have cutouts with holes for anchoring screws to secure them to the wall.

Care depends on the plaque’s construction: embroidered fabric plaques—gentle dusting and avoid prolonged direct sunlight; some wood pieces note ‘dry-clean’ care; metal or painted wood decor can typically be wiped clean with a dry cloth.

Some embroidered plaques are sold in custom printed open-face boxes designed for gifting, and several metal or decorative signs are marketed specifically as thoughtful gift options.
