cracked heel treatment

Times vary by product type. Quick moisturizing foot masks often advertise noticeable results in about 10 minutes. Peel-type exfoliators usually require wearing booties for 60–90 minutes and then produce skin peeling that unfolds over several days. Concentrated ointments and creams commonly report visible improvement within a day, with continued benefits after repeated nightly use.

Formulations typically combine exfoliants/keratolytics (for example salicylic acid and alpha-hydroxy complexes) with humectants and emollients such as urea, petrolatum, glycerin, shea butter, and avocado oil. Many products also include skin-supporting ingredients like provitamin B5 and bisabolol to soothe and support repair.

Exfoliating treatments often cause a tingling or cooling sensation during or shortly after use; some users report mild stinging, itchiness, or temporary tightness. With peel-type products, expect dead skin to slough off over the following days.

Peeling typically begins several days after application (commonly 2–7 days) and can continue for up to about two weeks, depending on how much dead skin is present and the product used.

Files can be used on wet or dry feet, but many product instructions recommend soaking feet in warm water for 10–20 minutes first to soften the skin for gentler, more effective filing.
