Glue removers target tape and label residue, gum, glue and sticker adhesive, crayon or marker wax, tar and similar sticky soils, and some grease and paint residues.
Some glue removers are labeled for use on carpets and fabrics and can remove adhesive quickly with little scrubbing. Manufacturers advise pre-testing any product on an inconspicuous area, following the product’s instructions, and noting that certain materials may be excluded by the label.
Ingredient types shown include acetone, citrus cleaning agents, soy or other natural solvents, and abrasive materials like walnut shell. Some formulas also contain oil‑based or conditioning ingredients such as chamomile, safflower seed oil and coconut oil.
