Q: good for wool rugs?

A: The BISSELL Free & Clear Oxy Mess Rescue formula is designed for deep cleaning and is safe for use in most upright carpet cleaners. However, we don’t recommend using it on wool or other delicate natural fiber rugs unless the label specifically says it’s safe for them. For wool rugs, it’s best to use a formula that’s clearly marked as safe for natural fibers. For the Little Green Machine, BISSELL recommends using formulas specifically made for portable carpet cleaners, such as: Little Green OXY Spot & Stain Formula PET PRO OXY Spot & Stain Simply Spot & Stain Pet Formula Using the wrong formula could lead to excess suds or reduced performance, so it’s best to stick with one made for portable units.

I especially love that it is a hypoallergenic formula. I am VERY sensitive to chemicals and smells and this didn’t bother me. I tried this on an old dog throw up stain I’ve been trying to get up forever and it worked better than the other solutions I’ve tried. I’m going to keep trying it and report back.

My favorite thing about this formula is how little you have to use for such a deep clean. The bottle lasts a very long time. While I think the price point is great and the cleaning power is superior to other brands, I don’t love that this solution is unscented. It did a wonderful job of taking the dog smell out of the carpets and I appreciate that, but I crave that freshly cleaned smell after steam cleaning my carpets. This just left the room kind of blah afterwards. No fresh, just cleaned smell. If you or your family members are sensitive to scented products this hypoallergenic formula would be wonderful for you!

I was so excited to see Bissell offered a fragrance free cleaner thag was safe for families with kids and pets. We have 2 small children and 2 dogs so there are no shortage of spills and messes. We have used this concentrated formula to clean dog accidents, food spills including blueberries, chocolate and coffee and several marker accidents. I was happy to see this didn't suds up as much as other cleaners we have used. I also loved that there was no toxic chemical odor. This effectively cleaned up the food and marker stains after a few passes. I was extremely impressed with how well this handled the dog accident as well. Being that it has no fragrance I was worried that there would be lingering pet odor but both my husband and I agreed that this effectively cleaned the mess without just covering it with fragrance! The coffee stain did need some help woth spot treatment prior to using this cleaner but to be fair it had been sitting for awhile. I would highly recommend this product to allergy sufferers or just anyone looking to eliminate toxic fragrances from their cleaners. Its effective at cleaning while providing peace of mind that this is a safer option for my family. I forsee us purchasing this product again in the future!

It is also gentle enough to use for our children’s bedroom rugs where they can roll around and play without us worrying how their skin is going to react. As a family with sensitivities and kids and pets, I like that it is hypoallergenic AND tough on stains and messes.

We had received the bassinet secondhand and although it was in pretty good shape, it had some slight staining and discoloration around the netting (which is not removable) I didn’t want to use any harsh chemicals seeing that this would be what my baby will be sleeping in, but trying to scrub out the stains with vinegar or even dish soap weren’t seeming to do the trick. I used this Oxy mess rescue free and clear in my bissell with the handheld attachment and I think with the product and the help from the steam unit, it got the stains right out! I placed the bassinet in the sun to dry and it looks good as new. I can feel good about putting my daughter to sleep.

We had previously spot treated the area without much success. I’m anxious to try this on some upholstery in our home. I appreciate the free and clear product as I prefer solutions without strong scents and dyes and value the hypoallergenic formulation due to sensitivities in our household while still getting the job done effectively. The packaging was convenient for use and the volume of solution is economical. Overall I would purchase this solution in the future as I feel it is a less toxic cleaning option for my family.

Often I gravitate towards something with a pleasant aroma, however it was nice to use the free and clear version. I felt better cleaning my carpets with that, with my kids and pets around. I knew I wasn't putting extra chemicals and dyes into our carpets, and I still was left with clean floors! It took a cap full to fill my upright cleaner and my stains came out quickly and easily. I do have fairly clean carpets in general, but we do have stains sometimes from the kids. So I like to do a full clean on my floors once every so often.

In my house, we have a lot of messes and we often use one of our carpet shampooers once a week at minimum. In the time that this product was reviewed, my dogs and kids made zero messes. So I took this cleaner to some of my high traffic areas and some very old stains I’ve struggled to get out. First, I noticed that the scent was not overwhelming like other cleaning products which I appreciate. We are a sensitive nose and skin household. It smells clean rather than like chemicals. When filling my soap container for my cleaner, the sprout was easy to use and had no spills while filling it with the cleaner. I noticed that while cleaning, the carpets immediately looked clean without the overwhelming carpet cleaner smell. I also used it on my chairs using the handheld brush attachment. The oxy really does the trick with lifting the dirt off my white chairs. The photos attached are focused on an area where my dogs had diarrhea and had sat there for an unknown amount of time. I’ve tried for years to get it out with not much success. In order the photos are as follows, (1) before with the product, (2) dirty water (3) after. It looks like it did lift the stain a little bit but not totally - this is after 2 professionals cleaning my carpets, and several attempts by me to try and get those deep stains up. It also cleaned all of the dirty from the high traffic we get in that area by the stairs. All in all, this is a product I will keep around in case of a mess from my pets and kids.. I will trust that it will clean it properly without any strong odors and will recommend this to my family and friends!

I appreciate that this is effective without harsh additional scents. Not worrying about flaring up my son's asthma or my migraines gives me peace of mind and it makes me feel like this is a better alternative for my family. As far as cleaning power, this does a pretty good job. I did need to make multiple attempts with the jelly and cat pee, but that's to be expected. The carpet feels soft and clean once it's dried. I really liked the size of the bottle as well, this will last a good while for my family.

We tried it on some urine spots our newly adopted dog had left in our house. We put the solution into our Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam carpet cleaner and the stains were gone after one treatment. I was very worried as these urine spots weren’t found for a few days and I was very impressed how well the cleaning product worked. For the money it is worth the value and I would purchase again. The hypoallergenic solution was great for our family with little kids and did not leave a powerful smell in the house after cleaning. What I liked most about the solution was that it was very easy to use, just add to your Bissell Revolution machines and you are ready to start cleaning! I would definitely use this product again in the future and recommend to other families with pets! The red circle in the picture attached shows where the urine spot was and how you can’t even tell there was a stain there! So happy!

My carpet cleaner is used almost as often as my vacuum. But I had given up on finding a safe cleaning solution for my baby to crawl around, on top of my dogs. Not only do I want the ingredients to be safe, but I also want to walk into the room without being taken out by the fragrance left behind. The day I got my solution in the mail is when my dog decided to wake up in the middle of the night and puke in my room. I pulled out my cleaner and got to work, and in less than three passes, the stain was completely picked up and the smell was already out of the carpet. In the same area, it took out an old urine stain from my senior dog that I had tried to remove with multiple other cleaners. I've also used this to remove berry stains, mud, baby blowouts, spit up, coffee, and anything you can think of. It will forever be my go-to when I need to refill my solution. Thank you for creating a product with families in mind. I've attached the before and after photos of my first test, which was dog vomit and an old urine stain. They came up in less than 3 minutes!

It did remove a good bit of stains, however on some spots it wouldn't remove all. This works best with the Bissell upright carpet cleaners. I did try it with both upright and portable carpet cleaners. I will say it did better with the upright one. It is very easy to use, doesn't have a scent, and gentle for pets which is great! I would like to see it remove stains a little better and easier. Other than that, this would be great for maybe little stains or messes, or even to touch up areas.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Value for money: It’s not the cheapest carpet cleaner formula but, other formulas I’ve tried needed extra effort or multiple treatments for similar stain removal, so even though the formula is a slightly higher price, the clean results made up for it. Hypoallergenic & Gentle Characteristics: Because it is “Free & Clear,” there is less dye / fragrance. This was huge for me as a migraine sufferer. I find many cleaning scents tend to trigger headaches that can last days so this was a refreshing change from the scented carpet cleaners without sacrificing performance. I also love the peace of mind it gives me not having to worry about kids and pets being surrounded by those chemically smells as well. Performance: Dirt and built‐up grime in carpet fibers came up fairly easily. We hadn’t had our carpets cleaned in a while so I was impressed with how well it revived the look and feel of our carpets throughout the house. It attacked any stains we had as well as removing any residual pet odors that tend to linger in carpet. Overall I think this is a solid product. If you want a cleaner that works well on pet stains and odors, is gentler than heavily scented options, and offers good performance for the cost, this is a perfect choice. Cleaning carpets isn’t my favorite chore so I appreciate this product making that job easy and removing that headache while not giving me one in return! Oh, and Jasper approves!!

My family avoids fragrances and harsh chemicals in our home due to asthma and other sensitivities. However, we have a toddler who is currently potty training and two long haired cats who frequently have hairballs. I love that this is made with earth friendly ingredients and also avoids unhealthy ingredients as well as fragrances. It makes me feel so much more comfortable using it around my family and pets. I used it to clean up a pee accident my toddler had as well as a hairball from my cats. It worked great on both! The product really has no scent, yet did a great job of taking out the odors of the stains. The price is well worth it, and it lasts me a long time because it is concentrated. I will continue buying this one!

But as I have gotten older and now that I have small children I really appreciate a clean home without all the added fragrance. This formula is a great option for families with small children since it doesn’t have added perfumes or dyes, making it gentler for sensitive households. The formula cleans very well, lifting stains effectively and leaving carpets and upholstery fresh without leaving any sticky residue behind. When I heard about Free & Clear Oxy Mess Rescue Upright Deep Cleaning Formula my mind was made up. We have made tremendous effort to create a non-toxic environment over the past few years and it is very important to me to have safer milder options for detergents in our home. The adults in my home have allergies and sensitivities and with the arrival of a new little one we want to make the best choices possible when in come to cleaning our house and not exposing her and us to toxic or harsh chemicals. The Free & Clear Oxy Mess Rescue Upright Deep Cleaning Formula is made with biodegradable detergents and has no heavy metals dyes or perfumes. A bonus to this solution is that it is similar in price to the other formulas. Often, we find ourselves paying a much higher price for clean ingredients or products, but this was right there in same price range with the other ones. The formula is clear and has no color or dyes. It also has no overwhelming smell; it smells very mild and clean. With a toddler and an older pet in our home we often have messes that need a solution that can actually remove the odor of pet messes and spills and not just cover them up with perfumes. I had some dark spots that had been bothering me on my living room carpet and was worried they might be difficult to get out maybe even permanent. It only took a few swipes over the stains, and they disappeared. I was so pleased. It worked great! I will most definitely continue using this product and will be also recommending it to my friends and family with pets and/or children.
