My initial sample was not a viable One for testing and they sent me a new kit at no cost right away. It was already activated so all I had to do was swab and return. The results are interesting and some quite surprising! But overall it does help explain some of the quirkiness in our pup.

Every dog we’ve had has gotten a wisdom test. Seeing their breed breakdown as well as any health risks and behavior traits is something I think every dog owner should have done. We love wisdom!

I was convinced my dog was a pure bred poodle. Looks like a poodle, acts like a poodle…. She is 86% poodle. I’ll let my vet know she is a mix of 7 other breeds. She came from a backyard breeder and after her first litter died she was given to a local rescue saying she was worthless. She is basically feral at this point but we’re working on it. Good to know a little bit more about her.

When you rescue a puppy or dog. You really would like to know what breeds make up your dog so you know what to expect in temperamen, health and other issues. DNA is the best way to find out some of that. Wisdom Panel DNA testing has been done on all 3 of my rescues and the results have been very accurate in telling me health issues long-term as well as temperament and even other siblings close by. They even tell you which side bloodlines come from - the dogs mother or father and can go back several generations. Wonderful knowledge.

Results showed 44% Shih Tsu and 38 % Toy or Miniature Poodle. She has all of the shih tsu's traits. Stubborn? YES Has to have her own way? YES But she is our wonderful fur baby. We love her, despite her faults.

The breed results were a shock. We thought we had a purebred Havanese. It turns out that our Gracie is 63% Havanese in combination with four other breeds. This contradicts what her breeder and AKC pedigree said. However, we believe you. And we love Gracie just as much. We originally got the kit because we wanted to know if Gracie’s health problems were of genetic origin. They are not. You were also correct about her physical characteristics. However, your behaviors panel needs work. We’ve lived with Gracie for six years. There was no behavioral trait in the results that described Gracie. The results reminded me of a horoscope.

I loved this experience! I was able to locate my shelter, pups, mother, and siblings from a new letter. I spoke with the owners and we determined that my boys mother that she had just rescued pregnant with another litter, and produced one of my boys, new little brothers. It has been the coolest experience learning about the breeds that my dog carries. I could go on and on, but I sat here for two days reading the extensive report! For both of our dogs! Found one to be a 100% Siberian husky and the other is a Siberian husky Belgian melanois mix with 7% German Shepherd and 1% Dutch Shepherd! I have a great set of companions!!!

The results returned from my dog's sample are not even close to being accurate. I know 75% of my dog's heritage and none of it was represented by these "results". Everyone I have shared with have all had the same reaction - "You wasted your money". Save yourself the money and hassle - go with another DNA testing company.
