I would say it’s a middle ground between charmin ultra strong and ultra soft. I also appreciate that they have some sustainability metrics on the packaging.

I've tried most of the "strong" variants of toilet papers, and this one has been my favorite. It doesn't doesn't pill easily, the texture does a good job of cleaning, and it's thick and comfortable. I prefer the "strong" variants over the "soft" ones as these tend to pill less when wiping. It's also nice that these are widely available; not difficult to find in stores or online. I also actually like that these are a little narrower than some other toilet paper brands. Less waste, and it flushes more easily! I don't think I've ever had a clogged toilet when using this. Recommended.

One standout feature of this toilet paper is the unique CleaningRipples, ridges designed to enhance the cleaning experience. Compared to my regular Kirkland brand toilet paper, which comes in an extra-large roll, Cottonelle’s sheets appeared just as thick, though the CleaningRipples provide a slightly different texture. While the Cottonelle rolls may not last as long as my usual extra-large rolls, they offer a comparable feel in terms of thickness and strength. Overall, if my go-to brand were unavailable, I would absolutely consider Cottonelle Ultra Clean as a reliable alternative.
