[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used Sonicare toothbrushes for years. This new one had 6 brushing timer segments instead of the 4 in all of my other brushes. It’s taken some getting used to. Otherwise same great toothbrush!
Brushing is beautiful!!

At the outset it is pretty expensive but compared to another ultrasonic (diff manufacturer) which was ~ 1/5th the price, the Philips one (HX 9903/15) has advantages. It is better designed and allows changing the modes while motor is off (smart), is gentler on the gums and teeth (the cheaper alternative chattered worrisomely!) and seems to clean and remove plaques and stains better. The phone app is fine but a bit of hassle to use. After a few times, once the technique is properly mastered it loses its value. Although it might be still useful for occasional refreshers and to keep tab on the brush-head wear. The extra chips in the head naturally jack up the price of brush heads but I guess one gets what one pays for. I am not planning to use it with cheaper non OEM brush-heads for a few years probably. Some reviews expressed some concerns about quality and functionality of the buttons etc but with 2+ years warranty (remember to register for extended warranty!), seems a safe bet. Users must read the manual and put the unit through its paces to fully utilize the many options and fine nuances. The whitening function is okay but would not replace regular visits to your dental hygienist for thorough cleaning and check-ups! Compared to a manual toothbrush, it would be a short but steep learning curve, but it does make your brushing a more mindful activity and that would be a bonus, anyday! Users should not hesitate to use the brush for touch-ups if the programmed 2 or 3 minute do not seem enough some day. If holding and maneuvering the brush properly one quickly gets the hang of it without the unit slipping from the nimble grip required. Use only a small dab of the toothpaste to avoid messy brushing! :-)

The Bluetooth fails mid brushing so you loose the guidance from brushing and you just have to wing it.

For $200, you don’t even get a traveling case that charges?! Wow! What a ridiculous downgrade. You can purchase a much less expensive version that includes this!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The iphone app is not good. - First, it always ask me to start on one side, while I want to start on the other side (think of left handed/Right handed people). - The app detects I am using the brush, but it does not know which segment I am in. - Instead of normal cleaning of 2 min, it usually goes for 4 min - 2 cycles. - It is normal for people to take their phone to do this kind of stuff. Initial use of the product - it is ok. But, after a week, it is useless to take the phone and use it. I just stopped using the app. It is not as intelligent as it claims. Also, the 6 beeps to change tooth segment.... Just does not seem to work for me. I prefer 3 beeps to change - Top Front, Bottom Front, Bottom Back, Bottom Front. This seems more logical & easier from a hands movement.

The metal tip that supports the toothbrush head becomes loose rendering the toothbrush useless. Apparently it’s a screw that rattles loose that is not accessible to tighten. Too bad, was a good brush but falls apart relatively quickly.

2nd unit I have bought. 1st one lasted about 18 months before it died. This one lasted less than a year. Have bought them for family members and theirs die far too fast as well. UPGRADE YOUR COMPONENTS/QUALITY CONTROL OR YOUR PRODUCT IS DOOMED.

The metal tip to attach the brush head gets loose after 2 years of usage. According to online information, it appears to be caused by a loosen screw on the mechanism inside after vibration over time. It is not a good idea to use screw or nut and bolt on a vibrating mechanism as they get loosen. In addition, it doesn't provide user friendly access to tighten the screw. Totally bad design to where screw is needed.

My previous Philips electric toothbrush lasted about 8 years…but this one is a nightmare, and I regret buying it. Same problems as everyone else here. Original HX992P lasted 8 months, replacement lasted 36 hrs. It seems like the motor is too strong for the other parts so everything falls apart

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This has been a difficult transition but I do feel it’s a great toothbrush. I have a very small mouth and you no longer have compact brush heads Th heads are quite larger than I’m used to. I do enjoy the other features of the toothbrush.
