Square Self-Watering Plastic Indoor Outdoor Planter Pot 10"x10" - Room Essentials™

I purchased these because I like the square design of them. These are sold as self watering pots, but aren’t completely self watering. At least not without a minor modification; the addition of a self wicking rope. Where these fail at being completely self watering, is that the upper part of the pot,l only sits a little over a half inch into the base, which is 2-1/4 inch deep. This means that every time you fill the base, and it absorbs water, you’ll have 1-3/4 inches of standing water that will sit in the base, until you top off that 1/2 inch again. Now without knowing this information, you will assume that because the base has water in it, that the pot is still sucking up water from the base, via the capillary action that makes a self watering pot, self watering. That standing water may become a breeding area for small pest. Now as far as the modification goes that I’ve mentioned, the simple addition of some self wicking rope, would suck up the remaining water in the base, and feed it to the soil. These do not look like they can come apart, and in the Q&A, it’s stated that they are not intended to be taken apart. But they can come apart (with a little bit of muscle) and can go back together easily simply by pressing where the post in the base go through the holes in the planter. There are some holes in the bottom of the planter that almost by design, seem like they are specifically there for self wicking rope.

This was the perfect pot for my small plant to grow. The design is modern and I really like that it has a drainage system.

Strong and sturdy quality with a sleek and simple design. I bought 2 for outdoor plants and bought additional 2 for indoor. Affordable and the price is even better when there is a circle deal.

This pot is amazingly cheap. It also will hold water at the bottom, which not many pots do. I have not used it long, so I do not know how it will hold up. But at this price, does it really matter.

I put my geraniums in these. We do not live full time where I used these so looking forward to seeing if they work for us.

I love these!!!! They hold up so well through any weather as well!!! They are kinda lightweight though so if you live in a windy area maybe throw a rock or 2 in there so they don’t blow away!!!
