Brother XR3774 Wide Table Sewing and Quilting Machine with Built-In Stitches

This was a gift and I'm thrilled about all this machine can do. I'm still learning about the features but definitely happy to own this product.

Thread never breaks, sews smoothly and you can adjust the needle position for perfect 1/4 inch seams or any width seam you want. I hemmed 2 pair of jeans recently. Sews right thru denim. Making a quilt right now!

This is the first sewing machine I've ever owned and for a beginner I feel like it's a perfect machine! Very easy to set up and very easy to use! I am super pleased with this machine!

Bought machine to use for Dress a Girl workshop, it is easier to carry then my other machine. Im starting to get used to it. Wish the walking foot wasnt bulky and was smaller. Sews really nice

I like this machine. However, that bobbin is not easy to use. If you don't put it in exactly the way it should go your stitch is a mess. It can be very frustrating. I don't know why the manufacturers can't make an easier bobbin.

I have a hard time getting this machine to sew. It doesn't want to star or move forward to sew. Then, I used the Walking Foot the other day for thick fabric, and I had to push it through. I was using the heavy fabric needle, but it doesn't want to sew over 3 or 4 layers of fabric! Also, I have a hard time getting my fingers into the area to change the needle with that dime sized screwdriver! Very small area for changing a needle. My machine has been looked at by the Dealership in Eugene & they say, there is nothing wrong. I have been sewing for 60 years, so I know sewing machines, and this one is stubborn!

This is a good basic sewing machine. I have been happy with the simplicity of this machine and the quality of the stitches.

A basic machine, for a beginner, or someone seldom sewing..only lasted about a year. Real sewists thumb their noses at it.

I had a 40+ year old Pfaff I needed to replace and wanted something simple for mending, hemming, etc. I did a lot of research and chose this Brother machine after reading a lot of reviews. It is quite easy to set up and I really appreciate the easy way to thread the needle as my eyes aren't what they used to be. The stitching options are easy to understand though I've only used a few so far. A few things I don't like - there really is no storage on the machine - no place to keep extra bobbins, seam ripper, etc - that fit well in my old Pfaff storage. The case that comes with it is fine to keep dust out but the handle doesn't really line up so I end up moving it by holding on to the base rather than the machine grip. I guess I was used to the features of my old machine but will eventually get used to these as well.

For apparel sewing this Brother model is perfect. I used to quilt but now enjoy creating clothes even more. This model has more than enough stitch options to satisfy!

Having problems with tension. Other than that, I love it

Unreliable. I bought 9 of these machines to teach sewing classes. I spend more time troubleshooting than sewing with my students. They are cheaply made. Thread tangles a lot. Self threader is too difficult to use especially for my older and very young students. Screwdriver is laughable and too small to be useful. Tension is a constant problem. No spool top holders included. Needle and foot screws fall out from the machine vibrations. Stitch guide is backwards. Buttonhole foot is difficult to use. Overall not efficient or reliable.

I loved my machine. Used it for a couple months. I did mending, straight seaming, quilting with the included walking foot. I was very pleased. Then it couldn't sew anything without skipping stitches. I'm not an inexperienced sewer so I tried everything: new needle, adjust tension, etc. I took it in to the Brother dealer here in Reno. They said the plastic (!!) hook had chipped and that to repair the machine would be more money than the machine was worth. The shop sent in a plea for parts or a replacement. I am now waiting to see how the company will respond.

Its nice as a back up sewing machine for small projects. For the price well worth it

Directions are not clear - better directions would enhance my view of the product.
