The reviews for Smucker's strawberry jam reflect a significant divide among guests, with many expressing disappointment over changes in taste and texture, particularly the absence of real strawberries and the presence of high fructose corn syrup. However, some guests still appreciate its classic flavor and versatility, using it in various recipes and as a staple for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The jam's sweetness and ease of spreading are also highlighted positively, making it a beloved choice for many families.

Avoid This Product
Grew up on Smuckers Jam but since my family has gone more health focused with food we haven’t bought it in years. Decided to buy a jar for my son for nostalgic reasons and man was it just awful. He complained of the taste immediately and with him being a picky eater I dismissed it. When he refused to eat it I tasted it in the sandwich and got an odd chemical taste. So I grabbed a spoon from the jar and it tasted like chemicals and moth balls. Thought it was maybe a bad batch but after looking at the reviews on here it’s clear this isn’t real food anymore but over processed, pesticide filled, gelatinous slop. Disappointed and will spread the word to friends and family to avoid.

No thank you
I just bought a 18 oz of strawberry jam, and I do not like it at all. It does not taste like strawberries. It tastes more chemically. I am disappointed and I do not understand why you had to add high fructose corn syrup and corn syrup. If you want to have a strawberry taste, please avoid this product.

Change of Quality and Taste
My husband bought a jar yesterday. This is not the same strawberry jam that we used to get from Smuckers. It definitely does not have the same amount of strawberry flavor that it used to have. Regardless of what Smuckers corporate is saying, we all know that this is not the same recipe.

Zero fruit in newest jar!
I am writing to bring to your attention a serious decline in the quality of Smucker’s strawberry jam, a product I have faithfully purchased for decades. Despite the premium price, I chose Smucker’s because I trusted its longstanding reputation for quality. Unfortunately, in recent years, I have observed a dramatic drop in fruit content. My household, which enjoys peanut butter and jelly sandwiches regularly, now finds each jar more deficient in fruit than the last. The most recent jar contained no fruit pieces at all. I reviewed customer feedback on your website and found that this issue is consistently raised over many years. While your responses repeatedly assert that the recipe remains unchanged, these standardized replies feel dismissive to a loyal customer base. When so many consumers raise the same concern, it demands real scrutiny and a transparent response. Smucker’s has been a staple in American homes for over a century. I urge you to take these concerns seriously and ensure that the product reflects the legacy of quality for which you are known. I look forward to your prompt and meaningful reply.

Tastes like metal
Purchased a jar of strawberry jam this weekend. There is an odd metallic taste and smell. The consistency even seems off.

Ingredients verification
Been eating this forever but I have to ask. What is the mono and diglycerides derived from? Is it vegan or does it contain any animals sources?

Low quality ingredients
The use of high fructose corn syrup makes this a low quality product.

Sad day for Ohio girl.
I grew up in Ohio and was raised eating Smucker's strawberry jam. I thought I purchased a "bad batch" because the taste was like nothing I grew up on, it was nothing more than red colored over sweetened gel. There we no signs of any strawberries and the color was definitely not the same, it's much lighter. I tossed it out and decided to see if there are any complaints about this and to my surprise there are a lot! I hope they do something because I am going to purchase another brand... so sad.

HFCS right on the label.
I've read the reviews and the corporate responses. Smucker's has been selling jam since the 1920's. When I was a kid, they never used High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) in any of their products. They sure do now. When the Smucker's Corporate "Consumer Relations" person states that they haven't changed the recipe for their jam products that is a plain bald faced lie. They most certainly have.

Less strawberries, regardless of what they claim
Used to love Smuckers strawberry jam but they have definitely changed something with the recipe and they're not up front about it. There is way less fruit in the jam than it used to be. I guess it makes it cheaper but you're losing me as a customer unfortunately.

Will not buy again
I am 70 years old and I have eaten strawberry preserves by Smuckers for my entire life. The last couple of jars are just gelatin —no fruit, sweet but tasteless. The first time I bought a jar that was like this I thought it was perhaps just a bad batch. I gave Smuckers another chance, but obviously a recipe change has happened.I will not be buying again.

New Jar - Brown Jelly
First time this has happened to me and I am perplexed. I went into our pantry (a cool/dry storage space in our basement) to grab a new jar of strawberry jam. It popped open with that "pop-woosh" sound of a new jar breaking its seal. But when I put the jam on my bagel I realized it was not red but brown. Mind you, it's close to the expiration date but it isn't expired yet. We definitely buy in bulk to save money and utilize our pantry storage, while we get close to expiration dates but I have never seen anything like this looking so spoiled even though it's within the best by date.

Straw? Raspberries.
I'm very confused about my jam purchase. Strawberry jam is the only kind I like. And have purchased smuckers for years. This purchase however. Says Strawberry Jam on the front. Ingredients then list raspberries. Taste like both. The seeds are more like raspberries. But the taste still kind of tastes like strawberries. I took a video documenting this if you would like to see.

Where Oh Where Have my Strawberries Gone?
I always loved Smucker's Jams and Preserves. Until now. The Strawberry jam didn't look the same. It is now an odd bright pink gel thickened juice. There was one small strawberry in the entire 32 oz jar. I did not buy it again. It was awful. Where, oh where have my little strawberries gone? Oh where, oh where can they be? With this jam cut short of berries, And the thick gel to fill out the bottle Oh where, oh where can they be? Sadly after a lifelong love of Smucker's I have found a new love. Farewell to thee. Oh where, oh where can they be?

Sad you're still using High Fructose Corn Syrup
Love your Strawberry Jam but we stopped using it a few years ago because of the High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). I looked at a jar today, hoping you stopped using it, but was surprised to see you still do. 🥲Sure wish you'd get rid of it so we can use your jam again. Having trouble submitting my review because it's requiring a photo. I don't have one to offer.
