About The Author

Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bear books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005, Jan and Mike continue to create the delightful Bear adventures from their family home in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.

True meaning of easter

I love the berenstain bear books/show, I didn’t know they were Christian based! My daughter loves the show, and I wanted to teach the true meaning of Easter. This book does just that.

Great book

It makes the Easter story understandable for kids. My children love it. And yes, it’s about Jesus. But then, so is Easter?

Good, long, Easter story

This depicts the actual Christian Easter story. My children (3, 5) lost interest as it's a bit long. We'll tuck it away and try again next year.

nope

I thought it would be about hunting eggs or something but it's deeply religious and very boring for kids.

Great story for kids about Easter

Around Easter time, we tried explaining why we celebrate. This book helped immensely. Love that it's kid friendly and still gets across the meaning of Easter. Highly recommend.

*Very* religious book

Please be aware that this is the “Living Lights/A Faith Story” version of Berenstain Bears, which is dramatically different than the stories his parents (Stan and Jan) used to write. My 3-year-old loves the classic Berenstain Bears books and was so excited to get this book. I did not realize I was going to have to read “So he ordered Jesus to be put to death by hanging on a wooden cross”. I understand wanting to tell the biblical story, but was not quite prepared for how literal this story was. If you were expecting the normal hijinks of Brother and Sister Bear - this is NOT THAT STORY.
