    Never ending entertainment

This was a Christmas gift for a two year old. This is one of their favorite toys that they come back to over and over. The parents appreciated that this can be used several ways to learn shapes, numbers, colors, and start introducing simple math.

    Confusing and chipped

It's a colorful toy, but at first glance I can see there are several chipped pieces and paint chips stuck on the inside of the shrink wrap the toy is packaged in. If it's already chipped in the package, i can't imagine what will happen when it's being played with and (inevitably) chewed on. Also, it doesn't make sense to me that the eight-sided octogon shape goes with number 6, the six-sided hexagon shape goes with number 8, and the five-sided pentagon shape goes with number 10. What??

    Just okay

The idea is good but the quality isn't the best, the shapes could have been better matched to the numbers. Additionally alot of the pieces were stuck together and had to taken apart with pliers. Because of this sone of the paint and wood are now chipped.

Stuck on Finger then sawed off

Pro - great wood toy for counting, colors and shapes Con - hexagon is on number eight and octagon on number six, I wish they swapped these out but really not a big deal. Con - my son put one of the pieces on his finger and it got stuck, it wasn’t budging so we had to cut it off with a saw. Pro - we can still use the piece we had to cut because it’s made with nice wood. (Also a nice visual reminder of the lesson to not stick things on your fingers.)

Fun toy with opportunity for improvement

This toy is great and my toddler loves it. My only reason for taking away a star is it feels like the shapes could have matched the numbers…. For example 6 has an octagon (8 sides) but 8 has a hexagon (6 sides).

Could be improved, but a great learning toy

There are a lot of small pieces, but my daughter is 1 1/2 and enjoying learning her colors. I just keep extra pieces in a box. One thing that is bothering me is the disconnect between the number of sides on the shape and the assigned number. Why on earth would you use a hexagon for number 8 and an octagon for number 6? And number 10 is a pentagon instead of 5. Circle should be number 1. It could be used for so much more learning that way. I do love Melissa and Doug and wooden toys. This is sturdy and can be used in many ways as she grows and develops. There are flecks of color that rub off when you move your finger around in the hole of every shape. So not a good option if your child likes to put things in their mouth.

    Too many pieces

This was wayyyy too many pieces. I don’t know what but my toddler dumps all the pieces on to the floor and walks off. She’s never played with it and not interested at all. Also it’s a pain to pick it all up.

Wonderful, I hope it is improved!

This was purchased as a gift for my boyfriend's nephew, for his second birthday. I was told he played with it nonstop for hours after opening it. So that's a plus. Other things I liked about this toy is how flexible it is as children develop. There are lots of exercises and opportunities for learning. It is a great size, the blocks are easy for a child to handle. This toy is a step up from the small version, and I think is very enriching overall. For the negatives: It would be great if the pegs were painted to match the colors of the blocks. This would help the younger ones. The pegs could be placed farther apart. It can be difficult to fit them on the pegs. There are 8 hexagons and 6 octagons; this gives me a little anxiety for a child's developing brain.

    Love it!

This is a great toy to help teach counting. It keeps my daughter's attention as we go and is repetitive enough without being boring due to the different shapes and colors.
