About the Author



A. A. Milne was born in 1882 in London. He was a playwright and journalist as well as a poet and storyteller. His classic children's books were inspired by his son, Christopher Robin. Milne died in 1956.

Ernest H. Shepard was born in 1879 in England. His pictures of the Pooh characters are based on real toys owned by Christopher Robin Milne. Shepard died in 1976.

Lovingly Recreated Piece of Art

This edition of Winnie the Pooh is small, about 5 and a half inches by 7 and three/fourth inches, making it easy to hold and comfortable to read. The pages are cut unevenly for a classic look, the cover is stamped with a very cute, gold-colored leaf print of Christopher Robin and Pooh Bear, and the font of the actual text is classy and easy on the eyes. The illustrations are in black and white, as to resemble the original 1926 edition first published in the United States. A highly affordable treasure for any fan of Winnie the Pooh or lovers of whimsy.

Misleading description

This book is quite small. I wish the measurements were given in the description. Also, this part of the description is misleading, "This elegant book features a textured case...." There is NO case. What this refers to is the COVER. Yes, the stories are delightful as stated, but that's because they are the original A.A. Milne stories. The actual look of the book is disappointing.

What a sweet read -I've been reading it to my 8 year old and he's been laughing *so* much. When I explained that Christopher Robin had all these stuffed animals and he had gotten Kanga and Roo one day, just like he had just received a new stuffed animal, and that CR's dad had all these stories about his stuffed animals, he got even more excited (he has me make up stories about his 'stuffies' sometimes). Highly recommend.
