Great dish for all this one pot dinners

So happy with this purchase knowing that I can hand this down to my daughter and possibly last a lifetime.

I love all the Staub colors, but this blue one is stunning. The 3.75 size is perfect for smaller batches of soups and stews. It's everything you would expect from a Staub. Exceptional heating and heat retention, easy clean up. Beautiful stove to oven to table. Amazing

Beautiful, but oh so useful!
This is such a beautiful piece of cookware that (like other reviewers) I keep it on the stove top when not in use - I just don't want to hide it away in a cupboard! I've used it twice already; for a scrumptious beef stew and sauerbraten. I can't wait to try more recipes! Clean up was so easy and the Dutch oven still looks like new -- even the underside that was in contact with the flame. Good quality, heavy cast iron construction with lovely dark, but rugged blue enamel. Although the outer box apparently got roughed up a bit in transit, the interior packaging was intact and designed to provide lots of extra protection. I'm so glad that I made this purchase.

The Essential French Oven is a little bit smaller than the 4 Quart cocotte, but is lighter because of the design of the lid. Although it is shaped a bit differently than the more traditional lid design, the lid on the French Oven still has a self basting feature and is also oven safe up to 500 degrees F. Perfect for a family of 4. I use almost daily for soups, oatmeal, rice and pasta. Also appreciate the induction capable, which is the stove top I will be replacing my current one with. Love that I can serve out of this pan when entertaining guests and the foods stay nice and hot. Great features, many uses!

Essential
Staub is my all time favorite cast iron enamel cookware. Made in France, never needs seasoning and works on my induction cooktop. Oven safe to 500 degrees which allows for perfect browning. The lids on this pan are slightly different than the traditional flat lids on the other Staub pieces I own. The Essential pan lid is slightly domed containing a chistera shaped design which self bastes the same way the spikes in the traditional lid do. This design makes for a lighter lid that still has self basting properties. The best of both worlds, and reasonably priced.
